2/21/ trail update about 5” of snow Tuesday-Wednesday groomers have been out and should have most of the trails groomed . Report back is trails are in good condition ,except the highway 2 trail due to several places with water standing in the ditches from the melt so the groomers will not run there until they freeze in. There are still some logging areas that have activity so use caution in those areas.

Just an fyi there are several areas with logging activity especially the areas where the summer storm went through . Both the bemidji-Itaska and becida trails heading south have ongoing logging sections.
The loggers did a decent job of leaving some snow for us but they are a bit rough . There are several open areas that once were mature trees that are now cleared off and the notion of dipping off bythe groomed section seems like a good idea but it is not recommended due to a tremendous amount of low cut stumps !
There is also a short section east of town that logging operations are going on as well. Please use caution and respect the loggers there is room for all of us to get along!
With the wind there will be drifting in places !

1/22/26
The groomers went out on the 20-21st and groomed up all of our trails. They turned out surprisingly well for the limited snow, most of the ruts and holes are finally covered and we received a dusting of snow on top of them! Would say they rate from fair -good!
Sounds like we have a major cold snap coming for a few days so if you do plan to ride keep that in mind!

Warm weather Monday and Tuesday this week got a fair bit of our snow again…. Trails are still ridable but definitely will have some thin spots. The ditches in sun burnt areas are the worst the woods trails are a little better.

We have made the decision to hold off on grooming until we can get snow again in hopes to save what we have left.

Mother Nature sure knows how to get a snowmobilers hopes up just to let him down!!!

1/6/2026 Trail Update: The groomers have been out and will have all our trails groomed by tomorrow evening.
The bridges are in place on the Bemidji-Itasca trail over the Mississippi and Little Mississippi at Bear's Den. All trails are rideable, with those south of Highway 2 having slightly more snow.

However, some ruts and bare spots will persist until adequate snowfall is received.

We are currently implementing a minor temporary reroute north of town in Buena Vista on the trail that comes from the north end of Big Turtle Lake, located just south of the Buena Vista forest road. A road detour will be necessary until the issue is resolved, so please exercise caution.

Don’t forget to rsvp for the club holiday party this Saturday rhe 10th. Plan to ride from the club house(7550 cardinal road) leaving at 9 returning around 5 with pot luck supper at 6. The club is supplying smoked pork chops and then the rest is pot luck! Even if you’re not a memeber yet come join us! Hope to see you there! Even if you dont plan to ride your still welcome to join for supper !

The guys have been out packing, rolling and even grooming some sections. Hopefully the cold weather will get the swamps and rivers froze up !

There are a few gates in the pinewood area that haven’t been opened yet but the plan is to get those trails rolled and open them tommorow and Monday.

We checked the ice thickness at the Mississippi and and the little Mississippi on the bemidji-Itaska trail that leads to Itaska Park and there was no significant ice , it will be a few more days before we can put the skid bridges in.

The trails are getting a good base set hopefully the warm temps that are in the forecast are wrong and we get some more snow !!

With any luck we will get a good season !!!

Reports in as far as snow , north of Bemidji approximately 8” and as you go south there is roughly 12” with some place even a little more!

Rollers are out and a couple groups are on sleds trying to pack the swamp areas before the weekend coming with -20 on Friday and Saturday nights!
