My goal as the owner of Move Pilates Bend is to bring to the clients what Pilates brings to me.

We offer small classes in a naturally lit space with ceiling to floor windows ๐ŸชŸ(but they are tinted so you donโ€™t feel like you are in a fishbowl ๐Ÿ™‚), we offer no judgment, only encouragement. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

We have new carriage ads and shoulder rests on EVERY Reformer (in addition to new loops and straps)

We have also added Bala Bangles to further challenge you by allowing you to add two pounds to your wrists or ankles if you choose to use them. In addition, we have new Bala Bands for resistance exercise, new wider pads to cushion your knees (and hands or elbows), new anti-slip pads, new balls, new foam rollers and other muscle/fascia release tools, new hand weights, new floor sliders and more!

Renee is a certified Pilates instructor with a blend of classical and contemporary training. With over 20 years of experience as a Yoga and Pilates student, she teaches private and group classes to all fitness levels. Pilates helped her regain strength, flexibility, and peace of mind after a career in technology and finance and a car accident that increased a scoliotic curve. Now, Renee is passionate about sharing the life-changing benefits of consistent Pilates practice with others.

Natalie, a professional dancer since 1978, discovered Pilates early on. Sheโ€™s a certified instructor trained in Classical Pilates with certifications from the Physical Mind Institute and Balanced Body. After owning three studios in Los Angeles, she moved to Northern California and continued expanding her knowledge with new techniques. Natalie now trains private clients and group classes, working with all levels of fitness to challenge both herself and her clients.

Lynn is a certified Peak Pilates and Stott instructor with a loyal client base. Her focus on training the mind and body comes from her experience as a former collegiate tennis player and Teaching Professional with the USPTA, NWPTA, and USTA. After sustaining an injury on the court, Lynn discovered Pilates and pursued it through years of training. Although she sold her studio, Peach Pilates, in 2013, Lynn continues to instruct and grow her client base. In her free time, she enjoys tennis, hiking, and rock climbing.

Pilates is ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ฉ the same as yoga.

They are very different disciplines that can highly complement one another. Both can be transformational for the body and mind.

๐Ÿ”ต ๐™”๐™ค๐™œ๐™– is a holistic discipline originating from ancient India with a greater emphasis on spiritual practice. The intention of yoga is to deeply ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ต with the ๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ and ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ๐˜บ by holding and advancing physical poses while focusing on breath and are primarily executed on the mat. Yoga has many physical, emotional and mental benefits for all who practice.

๐Ÿ”ต ๐™‹๐™ž๐™ก๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š๐™จ, originally known as Contrology, is a newer practice, originated from German-born Joseph Pilates in the 20th century and is more physically focused with targeted exercises on the mat and resistance-based equipment such as the Reformer to improve strength, flexibility, and control of the body. Joseph Pilates taught the use of the mind to ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ the muscles and control the movements, with a focus on core strength at its center.

The focus and concentration required in both yoga and Pilates keep you anchored in the moment and out of the distractions of the day helping to create space in the mind. ๐Ÿง

A recent article about Harry Stylesโ€™ exercise regime highlighted the benefits of Pilates. There are many benefits to be had from Pilates:

All people - from top athletes and performers to office workers, students, gym goers, moms and dads - use Pilates to enhance their current training regime, limit injuries, lose weight, get stronger, increase mobility and balance, and improve their mental health. ๐Ÿง 

With weight training, we tend to work only larger muscle groups in isolation. Pilates has a flow that mobilizes the joints and targets all muscles, not just the larger and more dominant muscles. Pilates targets the full body.
