Sunday, April 19th. 7:30am.
Good morning, friends. It's hard to believe, but we've arrived at closing day for the 25/26 ski season at Mt. Bachelor Nordic. This season has been one of highs and lows. A low snowpack challenged us all season long, but high spirits and a high percentage of great ski days balanced the scales. Despite a delayed opening and early closure, we managed 117 days open with groomed trails and full operations. Our snow stake tallied 206" of total snowfall this season, falling significantly shy of the 410" Mt Bachelor average and the 450" recorded here during the 24/25 winter season. Nonetheless, the Nordic Center welcomed 31,929 skiers and snowshoes to the trails this season and gave ski lessons to 728 folks. A staff of 45 dedicated Nords ran the lodge, patrolled the trails, hosted events, operated the cafe, and taught lessons. Plus 2 expert grooming operators (Peter & Jason!) shaped and smoothed our trail system each night. They focused relentlessly on maximizing every precious inch of snow to keep the trails open (and amazingly flat and smooth!) throughout this low snowpack winter. Our hats are off to you, gentleman. Thank you for all your hard work! And let's hope that Ullr is preparing to restore balance to our corner of the Cascades by showering us all with a long and snowy 26/27 season!
Mother Nature is matching our spirits and starting off the morning with somber skies, a balmy 39°F at the lodge that is slated to rise to a toasty t-shirt temp of 52°F this afternoon, to send us off dreaming of cool weather filled with future flaky fantasies! Current snow temps are sitting around 26°F/-3°C, providing a texture of firm yet granular crystals with forgiving glides and grippy kicks. With a significant rise in temps slated for the early afternoon, the potato puree is fast approaching; early birds will be reaping the benefits of sleek slides this morning. The talented groom-stars have reset skate corduroy and classic tracks on the Uppers (Green: beginner) and many of the Middles (Blue: intermediate) sans Rich’s Range; and Easy Back is a shorter loop through the PPP cut-through to Woody’s. The south side is not groomed. Woody’s is a short section to junction 12, connecting with Easy Back. Upper Jay’s Way by the lodge is closed, but the backside connecting Dan's Drop is open. The Lowers (Black: advanced) have retired for the season. Be aware of thinning conditions out there with low snow and exposed terrain, with a variable surface. For once last forest frolic amongst the gentle giants, check out our snowshoe trails! We have several kilometers of trails to satisfy your wandering souls. Bring your own or rent from our wide array of snowshoes to fit the whole family! Join us for one last hoorah on the trails and celebrate the final kicks and glistening glides to send this season off with a bang!
Speaking of next season; Nordic season passes are now on sale! Get yours now and lock in the lowest going rate. Enjoy unlimited access to one of the longest Nordic operating seasons in North America. Good morning from sweet snow central! We're primed for a fantastic day on the mountain, with superb trails and beautiful spring time skiing conditions. The new snow from the last storm cycle is just beginning its transformation and set well during overnight grooming operations. Today is starting much like yesterday with well-defined cord and classic tracks. And while mostly smooth, the areas that were shaded in the early afternoon and froze just before grooming show a slight hint of chunkiness which will be most prevalent on the south side of the network. The snow temp is -9*C/16*F and the quality is mostly sugary, packed powder albeit a bit more granular than yesterday. Although set relatively firm, it already has a nice give and we expect a rather quick softening as we get into the later morning. It's definitely feeling like spring to start our XC day, with West Village sitting at 26* with a quick warm up to the low 50's expected in the afternoon; light layers and plenty of SPF are in order! Team groom reports reset skate corduroy and classic tracks on the Uppers (Green/beginner) and many of the Middles (Blue/intermediate) minus Rich’s Range, however we're super stoked to report that both Woody's Way and Easy Back are back in their entirety! The Lowers (Black/advanced) have retired for the season. Even with the new snow, be aware of thinning conditions out there with low snow and exposed terrain. For those snowshoe enthusiasts looking for an outdoor romp set in our freshly flocked forest, we have Yellow and Orange snowshoe trails open and ready for our winter-warriors. Bring your own snowshoes, or pick up a pair in our rental shop and you're set for adventure!
Join us in capping off the ski season with fellow Nords! We’ll be grilling up complimentary hot dogs today from 10am - 2pm, or until the dogs run out. Woof, woof! Plus, the Nordic Cafe will be serving up $5 beers, ciders, and other menu specials. Please note: Parking is limited due to the RendezVan festival at Mt. Bachelor West Village. As an alternative, CET provides convenient shuttles to/from the mountain. https://www.mtbachelor.com/the-mountain/getting-to-around-mt-bachelor/shuttle/cet-bus/

Friday April 17th, 7:30am
Mother Nature blessed us with a bounty of snow in the previous days, then presented evening conditions ideal for a perfect groom - what a way to start the final weekend! It's currently a very frosty yet calm start to the day with mountain temps clocking in at 11* anticipated to rise quickly to the mid-40's by afternoon. We definitely have a quintessential Mt. Bachelor spring skiing day ahead of us, so break out the SPF and stow some light layers for this fine blue-bird day. The snow temp is -16*C/3*F with a groom that turned out pristine and well defined with deep classic tracks and crisp skate scallops. The surface is sugary packed powder, and has a nice give and edge-ability without being soft or punchy. It'll be a hard wax start and evident from our early XC recon, having the right tool in your bag will make all the difference in glide. Early morning skiers will find consistent conditions, while later arrivals should expect softening and variability as the day progresses. Our All-Star groom team has reset skate corduroy and classic tracks on the Uppers (Green/beginner) and many of the Middles (Blue/intermediate) minus Rich’s Range; and Easy Back is a shorter loop through the PPP cut-through. Woody’s is a short section to junction 12, connecting with Easy Back on the north end with the south end of Woody's connection to Upper Devecka's at junction 19.

Good morning Nords and welcome to another paradise of powder day! It's currently 17* at the lodge expected to notch out at around 30*, but with the bluster banished it feels quite pleasant once you get the "ski-legs" engaged. Light flakes are still falling, however will be ushered out by mostly sunny skies as the day progresses. We managed another 11" of fresh powder overnight and with a snow temp of -7*C/20*F the glide is smooth and creamy without any sense of sticky. While the touring will be supreme today, our groomer is still packing and tracking as of this report. The Upper network has quite a bit of wind-blown snow in places with light, dry snow atop the groom, yet there are classic tracks still present. Today's recommendation for the most consistent and set groom are the south rabbit ears (Upper Devecka's to junction 19 with a return on Woody's) and Zig-Zag, which according to Nordic-Pulse https://www.nordic-pulse.com/ski-areas/US/OR/Mt-Bachelor-Nordic-Center was groomed recently as snowfall was diminishing and should feature the most compact and defined cord and classic. Speaking of classics, our playlist is a repeat of yesterday as our groom team reset skate corduroy and classic tracks on the Uppers (Green/beginner) and many of the Middles (Blue/intermediate) minus Rich’s Range; and Easy Back is a shorter loop through the PPP cut-through to Woody’s. The south side is not groomed. Woody’s is a short section to junction 12, connecting with Easy Back. Upper Jay’s Way by the lodge is closed, but the backside connecting Dan's Drop is open. Bring your own snowshoes or pick up a pair in our rental shop and you're set for adventure!
After your XC ski day make a stop by the XC cafe. We're featuring end of the season specials and have a menu stacked with a variety of tasty offerings. Hot and savory soups, bodacious burritos, crispy quesadillas and plenty of sweet treats. Pair that with a piping hot latte or chilled bev of your choice and you have an après ski refreshment that can't be beat!

❄️❄️❄️Morning Snowstorm Update - 4/15 9:15am ❄️❄️❄️
We're happy to report that our day-grooming attempts to roll the Upper network, Screamer, Emil's and Easy Back via snow-mobile paid off. Snow is still falling at around an inch an hour, so we will be re-rolling at least the Upper trails (green/beginner) throughout the day. Rest assured the fire is stoked and the cafe is cranking out the goods. Hope you come enjoy this snow-filled day on the mountain!

Wednesday, April 15th 7:30am
Wowza, do we have one wild start to this Wednesday! The official total reads 7" of fresh snow falling overnight with our current powder drenching set to continue throughout the day. It's 29* on our way to a high that should top out just around freezing. Although it's a bit blustery up top, there's nary a hint once tucked into the trails. Our snow temp is measuring -5*C/23*F and has a creamy and velvety feel to the topper without any presence of stickiness. While some classic tracks are still present in the Upper and north end of the network, drifting snow has created pockets of soft powder over the groom. The earliest snow to fall had a nice water content and was relatively dense, enabling our groom team to condense this latest bounty into fairly firm trails, and with heavy snow in the forecast, today is set up to be a prime touring day. Those looking for the most consistent and set groom will want to look to the south rabbit ears (Upper Devecka's to junction 19, with a return on Woody's). Today's playlist includes reset skate corduroy and classic tracks on the Uppers (Green/beginner) and many of the Middles (Blue/intermediate) minus Rich’s Range; and Easy Back is a shorter loop through the PPP cut-through to Woody’s. The south side is not groomed. Woody’s is a short section to junction 12, connecting with Easy Back (note: Nordic Pulse briefly went off-line; however, the north side of Woody's is groomed). Upper Jay’s Way by the lodge is closed, but the backside connecting Dan's Drop is open. The Lowers (Black/advanced) have retired for the season. Even with the new snow, be aware of thinning conditions out there with low snow and exposed terrain. For a gentle frolic amongst the snow-capped forest, check out our snowshoe trails! We have several kilometers of trails to satisfy your wandering souls. Bring your own or rent from our wide array of snowshoes to fit the whole family!
