Horses make us question our life choices as well as give us a challenge. I have to remind myself that if it was easy, everyone would do it.
Ever heard, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is? Nothing of value is easy. That relationship. That horse. That win. They all take hard work & teach you something about yourself. Pause in the midst of what feels like a setback. Ultimately it comes down to how fast you can bounce back, reset or change gears.
Instead of admitting defeat, panicking or frustration. Ask yourself, what is this trying to teach me?
Im blessed to have a big network of people in this industry. I'm forever grateful. 💞

🌟Breeders & Buyers information..
Not everyone has $6000+ to drop on a stud fee. You want to promote your prospects? Try to raise a couple babies to sell? The end goal is to get them in the right hands or run them yourself. My advice, only breed to what you want to run yourself. Make smart business decisions and don't flood the market on the flavor of the month.
Buyers need to realize the expenses and time/work put into your horse. They will if the horse looks like a million bucks. Show these horses like you care, because you do.
Buy/Breed the best mare with the best pedigree you can afford. If your mare is already proven in the arena, even better. Mares that have had a job and or are money earners are going to be able to sell babies for a lot more. From personal experience, this is also a big component in the way these c**ts train up.
Conformation is the #1 thing I look at, due to how a horse is put together and how they move. I do not try to breed to anything that needs a tie down, because I don't want to use one, etc. 🙈 I don't care for a high head set. Decide what you can deal with and make the dream horse as user friendly as possible.
💥Don't over extend yourself and you wont have to fire sale. I have kept all my foal crops manageable in numbers. The amount of quality feed to bring them along is important, but early on moderation is key. If you want them to x-ray clean and have a long career, pay attention as your babies are growing. Mine get plenty of turn out and I don't over feed them to make them grow fast. Do not skip worming and doing their feet.
🔥What makes the "average" prospect worth more?
✔️Training (c**t starters and beyond, started on roping/barrels).
✔️Time invested
✔️Proper feed & hoof care
✔️Great conformation
✔️Good minded (user friendly is top tier)
✔️Lastly Incentives
I will say that the bigger incentives with annual payments will be the first one a new buyer drops. They may not see the point if they can't go. Don't let that deter you, a good home is a good home. ❣️

Here's one thing I hope everyone remembers. The industry takes all of us to keep it going. It may seem to be an expensive way of gambling at times. 🤑🌟

There is a lane for everyone. You can be in your lane and still be happy for the people trying as hard as you or even people with less/more than you. We all started somewhere and it was probably different for everyone!! The back handed comments or the posts about the price/terrible market for prospects, etc, is not helping. Breeders: Sit back and decide what you bring and set yourself apart somehow. If you're trying to get rich raising prospects, you will get an eye opener. One thing I have learned, try it at least once and see how much work it is. Most of the complaining comes from people proving that you can flood the market with average prospects. I'm not saying that to knock anyone. I am saying it because most think they can raise them cheaper & make a huge profit. I have been doing it long enough and you will offend people with your prices. If you must sell, price more aggressively. That is ok, move along.
I have worn all the hats. I have invested a lot into the industry and I'm happy to be here. It takes a huge commitment to do any of it. Pat yourself for being here and decide which is the best road for you. Get help when you need it and remember, collaboration happens at the top. Keep climbing. 💛
Pictured below is a horse at 2 yrs old, I couldn't sell for $17,500. 😘

🎇National Day of the Dog🎇
Menace aka Pepper is deserving of the title here for emotional support animal/therapy dog. She's cute and sweet and cheers everyone up! The best lil gal that has been easy to take on the road. It's easy to spoil this one. 🥰💞
⚡⚡ Taking Tesla for a spin was a highlight from the weekend. 14 months off and she's making her comeback. She doesn't know she didn't win. Gonna have to get my timing back but the joy of running this great mare will never get old. 🌟🥰
Slurpie 🥤Sometimes the name you name them becomes reality. 🤣 That's why I'm very mindful of the names that are picked here. He's is just a big red dragon that loves water. Thanks Melissa for the video! 😅💦
🌞 I've never had a bad view here. These yearlings are special. It's going to be fun to have them in the arena next year!

Everything on the road to success requires hard work.
Loneliness. Isolation. Things that are uncomfortable. Once you get used to the fact people will misunderstand you, it gets easier. The 17 seconds in the arena may be judged by a timer and naysayers at times, but it's a lot of stall cleaning and riding that no one sees to prepare for that moment. No one else pays your bills. The judgement of others comes from their insecurities. Keep going.
I started out a horse crazy little girl. I decided to get into the horse business right before the incentives took off. I researched my own favorite bloodlines. I had 0 outside influence. I have been working towards building a program for a long time, mostly in silence. I don't do things loud and I probably never will. I understand that not everyone sees the reward the same as me but I enjoy what I do. I hope that everyone finds their purpose and finds a reward on their journey in this life.
One thing I can say is stay kind. But don't let folks underestimate your kindness for weakness. Just because someone has fought silent battles doesn't make them weak. Peace has a way of showing up when you let go of what you think things should look like. 🙏
