Shout out to Wes who had a great game a few days ago that earned him the game ball. In the game, Wes ran down multiple foul balls and caught them! The kid works hard, puts his head down and hustles. He’s improving each month that goes by. The smile says it all.

The VT Bombers are bringing Babe Ruth baseball back to southern Vermont for the first time in just over a decade!

Babe Ruth baseball has a special place in coach's heart. At age 13, coach played for a rag tag team called the Panthers. The team was a group of great kids playing up getting their butts kicked and they finished 0-13 their first season.
In the middle of the season, coach would give up playing shortstop & put the catchers gear on for the first time because he was tired of watching pitches go to the backstop and runners running wild around the bases. The next season, the Panthers won the championship and coach... well, he stuck with the gear. An opportunity to try something new... and a decision that changed his life. Funny how things happen. Babe Ruth was a great experience and we hope the kids have the same kind of fun (maybe minus the 0-13 part would be ok 🤣).

The Bombers open their season with 7 games against Babe Ruth teams throughout Massachusetts ranging in age from 13-16yrs old and squeeze in 2 games against Central Vermont and Mt Mansfield before the state tournament begins.

Hustle & Effort. That's the plan. Getting these kids ready for high school. The rest plays out.

A conversation about what effort really means and what coaches look for when they say 100% effort.
Effort is the little things, the details, the conscience decision to apply the skills, instruction, and fundamentals.
It is this "choice" that separates effort from being just another word lumped in with hustle.
Effort is physical, sure, but it's also about mental focus.

This is the single biggest separator of continuing to play or not play. To start or not start. To be cut or to make the team.

Carter Sullivan stepped onto the bump today and delivered a powerful message about when work ethic, persistence, resilience, and fortitude meet opportunity.

Fearless, he took the mound as the starting pitcher against the heart of a lineup that included 7th graders standing 6' + tall.

First pitch - jam job. One pitch, one out as only CJ could. Just like at the pitch hit and run when he reached back and threw his first pitch for a bullseye.
The GOAT went 1 inning, giving up 0 hits, 0 earned runs, and 1 Walk.

It was incredible, emotional, and inspirational. Three words I would use to describe the person wearing the jersey.

But the best part came an inning later when coach Adam asked CJ if he was nervous. CJ summed it all up:
"I was maybe a little nervous, but then I told myself it's just like playing catch with my brother."

Sometimes... you just have to know what winning really is.

Before the season began CJ said he wanted to pitch. I kept saying "show me you want to pitch through your efforts in games and practices".... Well... he has.

Two days ago while watching one of the middle school games supporting some of our Bombers players CJ was standing next to me and I pointed out how hard he's been working and asked what it would mean to him if he had an opportunity to pitch.

"Coach it would mean the world to me if I could pitch"...

Today's starting pitcher for the Arlington vs Hoosick Falls is CJ.
Before the game starts - he's already won.

Game at 3pm in Arlington
