MAYCA Summer Camp General Information:
Gymnastic Camp: Children will stretch, work on floor tumbling skills, and have instructional time on all gymnastic equipment- bars, trampoline, rings, vault, and beam. Children will be broken into groups by skill set to maximize their experience. There will also be a daily craft, open gym time, outdoor play, bingo, and free choice activities.
Contact Info: For general correspondence or questions, please message [email protected]. If we are needed during camp hours, please contact Jaime 802-379-5495, Karsen 802-430-2440, or Maya 802-379-5376.
Location: The MAYCA Studio is located in the Vermont Mill Building at 160 Benmont Ave, Bennington VT 05201. Use the same parking lot as Revolution fitness in the North Wing. The entrance door is located by the loading dock. Take the stairs up to the second floor and hang a left to get to the Studio. If the parking lot is full, you can park on the grass to the right or through the back gate. Please do not park in spots labeled for other businesses.
Age Eligibility: Camp is open to children entering kindergarten through seventh grade.
Camp Hours: Camp opens directly at 8:00 am and closes promptly at 4:00pm. Many camp families choose the 9:00 am to 3:00 pm time slot. If you choose this time slot, children can not be dropped off before 9am or picked up after 3pm. If you need extended care, please extend your care 8-9am and/or 3-4pm.
Staff: Jaime, Karsen, Maya, Trianna and all of the girls are returning for this summer. Our staff to camper ratio is 1:8 or less. Staff is USA gymnastics, first aid and CPR certified. Jaime holds a degree in early childhood education and Karsen holds a degree in elementary education. Maya is currently pursuing a degree in education.
Attire/Belongings: Children should wear athletic clothing that allows for movement. Children go barefoot in the gym so please make sure your child's feet are clean before entering. We do play outside daily so it's important to pack clothing suitable for the weather and a pair of sneakers. Each week we visit the splash pad and do outdoor water play activities. The day(s) depends on the weather so please pack a swim suit and towel for the week. Bring a bag that can easily store personal belongings. All personal belongings should be labeled. We highly recommend that you do not send electronics. The studio and staff are not liable for lost or broken electronic devices.
Arrival and Departure: A parent/adult must es**rt children to and from camp. We ask that families are respectful to neighboring businesses and walk quietly in the hallways. It's important that the adult checks in with a staff member upon arrival and for departure.
Meals/Food: Campers bring their own meals. Please provide a morning snack, lunch and a water bottle in an insulated bag. We can not heat up items so please pack things that can be eaten cold. We encourage children to eat during meal times but we do not force children to eat. However, if you have a child that needs encouragement or reminders to eat during meal times, please let us know. We do give out freeze pops each day and sometimes play games with candy/non candy prizes. If you would prefer that your child does not consume these items, please let us know.
Medical/Allergies: Please make sure that all medical information and allergies is listed in your child’s portal. Inhalers and epipens can be kept in your child's bag or given to an adult. All medicine should be given to the teacher in the actual medicinal container, labeled with your child's name and the daily dose.
Activities: Besides structured activities and instructional time for each theme week, we also have an entire gym full of fun equipment (bars, beams, trampoline, vault, rings) along with tons of motor equipment (slides, tunnels, scooter boards, hula hoops, balls). We have an array of outdoor sports equipment, bubbles, jump ropes, and chalk. We also have an extensive supply of crafts, paint, board games, puzzles, legos, playdoh, kinetic sand, perler beads, rubber band bracelets, and more. Some activities do get messy and we use paint almost daily so please plan accordingly and dress your children in appropriate clothing.
Sunblock: We do go outside to play each day, weather permitting. Please apply sunscreen to your child each morning before they arrive. Also send a bottle of sunscreen labeled with your child's name inside your child’s bag. We will reapply sunscreen in the afternoon. If you do not send sunscreen, we will assume that you do not wish that it is applied in the afternoon.
Field Trips: Each week we visit a local playground and the Splash Pad. We also take one walking field trip to a special place each week (Ice cream, museum, carnival, etc) Trips will mostly depend on the weather so the field trip days will be posted on our door Monday morning. Trips will happen Tuesday-Friday.
Behavior: We understand that all children learn and grow differently. However, the studio does not tolerate bullying, physical, or verbal aggressive behavior. If these behaviors occur and present a safety concern to themself, staff or other children- the child will not be welcomed back.
Photos: Each week we post pictures/videos of camp on our page. Please let us know via email if you prefer that your child is not photographed.
Registration: Children can not be placed on a roster until they are signed up through the customer portal with the tuition fee paid. Space is limited and awarded on a first come, first serve basis. Camp is non refundable. Due to planning for staff and supplies, camp days can not be traded or swapped once your schedule has been set.

☀️Summer Update~
Classes: Our first week was wonderful. Because we kept class size small for the summer, a good portion of the classes are full but we do have a few left with availability. If you are interested in signing up, log into the customer portal and take a peak. The system does automatically adjust cost so you won’t be charged for the first week of classes.
Camps: We currently have space left in all camps however some are already close to full on certain days. Sending many thanks to everyone who registered early and in a timely manner. It really helps for planning staff. Quick reminder because we know there are several families who like to register the night before or morning of a camp day. Don’t forget that you use the portal to register. It will decline you if the day is already full so I highly recommend that you don’t wait until the last minute if you need care.
Birthday Parties: We are only booking two weekends a month for the summer. June is booked other than the last weekend. July and August have plenty of availability.
Play Gym, Family Gym & Open Gym: We’ve decided to keep these going for the summer. There won’t be any weekday or weeknight options but we will be offering these gym times on two Saturday and two Sundays each month. Drop in and join us.
Cheer teams: Our mandatory informational meeting for new families will be Monday June 8th at 7pm. Evaluation videos must be submitted by July 22nd. Team picks will happen by July 25th and families must accept or decline enrollment by August 1st.
Fall Session: Sign ups will begin for students currently enrolled in the summer session on July 25th. All others can enroll as of August 1st. The session will start in the beginning of September.
As always, for the full schedule and info visit themaycastudio.com or our customer portal.

It’s summer camp prep week. Lots of shopping, organizing, staff meetings and planning. So if you see us in the store with an entire cart full of freeze pops, they aren’t all for us- we promise. 😂

Next week starts summer camp! While most schools are still in session, this camp is great for homeschoolers, kiddos going into kindergarten and schools that dismiss early. This is a small camp size and great for anyone looking to try out one of our camps or get some gymnastic work in with a small student to teacher ratio.
