Bensalem Field Hockey JV had another shutout today, defeating Abington 2-0. The defense played extremely well today led by freshman CeCe Barton and sophomores Sophia Gross and Mackenzie Brown. We were a little short on players again today so we were helped by varsity swing players Emma Welsford, Chloe Smith and Mia Kelly. The entire defensive effort was so nice to see and it kept up through the game. In the midfield, Averie Ly and Rowan O’Neil continue to dominate and control. Up front, two of our most consistent forwards did the work today. Kylee Wenig got us started off with a goal with 4:28 remaining in the first quarter. She was assisted by Averie Ly who played remarkably today. That was Wenig’s third goal of the year to go along with a team leading 5 assists. It was Ly’s second assist of the year. That score remained the same until Ava Barrera got one off a freshman Mackenzy Leasher assist with just 1:42 remaining in the game to let us all breathe a little easier.
The Owls were able to get 8 corners today in the victory. Freshman goaltender Gabby Thompson recorded her third shutout of the year, while also combining for 2 varsity shutouts. Thompsons goals against average is an outstanding .889!

Bensalem’s JV team came out hot and scored early today against the home team CBE Patriots! Ava Barrera scored off of a Rowan O’Neil assist early in the first. That lone goal held up into late in the second half when East tied it up. Gabby Thompson played well today stopping 8 Patriot shots . Both teams had 3 corners.
We asked a lot of the JV team today as they were shorthanded all day. With only 3 subs many of the players played a full game today. I believe CeCe Barton , Mackenzie Brown, Liliana Griffin, Averie Ly, and Leona Xiao played the full game. It is to their credit that they were up to the challenge today.
