Kynley Helton on our Arkansas Thunder (Knight) 16u team did a great job of leading our daily devotional tonight.
DON’T FORGET JESUS
📖 Colossians 3:17
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
We talk to Jesus when we’re scared.
We pray when someone gets hurt.
We ask Him for help when we’re struggling.
We turn to Him when life gets hard.
And we should.
Jesus wants us to come to Him with those things.
But here’s the question I want us to think about today:
DO WE STILL TALK TO JESUS WHEN EVERYTHING IS GOING GOOD?
When you wake up and feel great…
Do you think about Jesus?
When you have a great day at school…
Do you thank Jesus?
When you get three hits…
Do you praise Jesus?
When your family is healthy…
Do you thank Jesus?
When life gets busy with school, softball, friends, practices, tournaments and everything else…
DOES JESUS GET PUSHED TO THE SIDE?
Sometimes without even realizing it, we can begin treating Jesus like an emergency number.
We call when something goes wrong.
But Jesus doesn’t just want to be part of our emergencies.
HE WANTS TO BE PART OF OUR EVERY DAY.
Think about your closest friend.
What kind of relationship would you have if you only talked to that person when you needed something?
Probably not a very good one.
Yet sometimes that’s exactly how we treat Jesus.
“Jesus, help me.”
“Jesus, fix this.”
“Jesus, please let this work out.”
Those prayers aren’t wrong.
But when was the last time we simply said:
“Jesus, thank You.”
“Jesus, I love You.”
“Jesus, I’m listening.”
“Jesus, what do You want from me today?”
The Bible tells us:
📖 “Pray continually.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:17
That doesn’t mean you have to walk around with your eyes closed praying every second of the day. 😂
It means prayer becomes part of how you live.
Talk to Jesus on the way to school.
Talk to Him while you’re getting dressed.
Talk to Him before practice.
Thank Him after practice.
Praise Him when something great happens.
Lean on Him when something difficult happens.
And sometimes…
JUST BE WITH HIM.
Jesus isn’t only someone we need when life falls apart.
He’s our Savior.
He’s our Lord.
He’s our friend.
He’s the One who loved us enough to go to the cross for us.
And He deserves more than the leftover minutes of our lives.
One of the saddest things would be to become so busy living the life God gave us…
THAT WE FORGET THE GOD WHO GAVE IT TO US.
So today, don’t wait until you need something.
Talk to Jesus.
Thank Him.
Praise Him.
Spend time with Him.
Because Christianity isn’t just about asking Jesus to be there when we need Him.
IT’S ABOUT WALKING WITH JESUS EVERY DAY.
🙏 PRAYER
Jesus, forgive us for the times we become so busy that we forget about You. Forgive us when we only come to You when we need something. Thank You for loving us, saving us, listening to us and never leaving us. Help us make You part of every day—not just the difficult ones. Teach us to pray when life is hard and praise You when life is good. Help us know You more, love You more and walk with You every day. Above everything else in our lives, help us keep our eyes on You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
DON’T JUST CALL ON JESUS.
WALK WITH HIM. ✝️
