Thinking of this everyday when I feed my baby. Yahia al-Najjar was 4 months old when he died of severe malnutrition on Tuesday at the American Hospital in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, his aunt, Safa al-Najjar, 38, said in an interview.
Yahia was born without serious health issues, but his condition soon deteriorated, she said.
The family has been sheltering under a tent made of a blanket held up by four poles. Yahia’s mother, subsisting on one meal of lentils or rice per day, could not produce enough milk to nurse him, though she had no problems nursing her previous three children. The family could not afford baby formula.

Beyond excited to be launching my second cohort of Turning Passion Into Action, a group coaching experience that will support you to meaningfully incorporate social justice/ civic engagement into your life.
We live in disturbing times. Many people are getting activated. Everyday people- not just longtime activists. But many are also feeling despair, stuckness, and overwhelm. If you're an everyday person who is feeling stuck around how to activate yourself around your desire to contribute meaningfully to a crisis-filled world, you're not alone. Despair has it's place, but it shouldn't be the end. It's time to get unstuck. The world can't wait. Your life can't wait. Do you want to finally put your values to work?
The program is right for you if you want to turn your passions into action and get out of your bubble of inaction/fear/guilt to a hopeful and empowered place of making a difference in the world. We'll help you start making a satisfying difference in a way that fits into a life full of existing commitments. That doesn’t burn you out. That uses your unique gifts, interests, and sphere of influence.
What will you get out of this group?
1. Connect with your personal commitment to social justice/civic engagement.
2. Distill your values, issue interests, and methods of social change.
3. Build relationships with great humans.
4. Be accountable to yourself and others.
5. Connections to researched and vetted organizations doing amazing work on the ground.
6. Make a personalized plan around getting involved in a meaningful way that works for you and begin implementing it.
7. Participate in engaging group coaching sessions and also a 1-1 session with me.
We offer one online group (to accommodate people from all over the world), and one in-person East Bay, CA group. Each group will be capped at 15 people.

One client shared:
“I started doing coaching with Eva because I felt stuck. I knew I was not living in line with my deepest values, and I kept getting in my own way. Eva’s holistic and compassionate coaching style allowed me to both understand myself much more deeply and take positive actions that paved the way toward taking actions more in line with my values. Eva allowed me to feel supported, empowered, and lovingly challenged during one of the hardest years of my life, and I continue to use many of the principles and practices she shared with me. Eva has a unique ability to balance being heart-centered and pragmatically action-oriented. Our sessions have had a lasting impact on my life. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Working with Eva will change your life if you are ready.”

Feeling Alone in Your Personal or Professional Transition?
Do you know you have to make a change in your life or your organization’s life, but feel alone as you navigate this important transition? As the world becomes increasingly unstable and so many changes occur, how are you supporting yourself and your community or team to stay grounded and effective? You don't want to let this transition pass you by in a mindless fog of busyness, procrastination, disorganization, or loneliness.
I am a coach and consultant for people and organizations going through transitions. I walk alongside people and help them achieve their goals. When desired, I incorporate ritual design into coaching. Rituals aren't just for fun (although they can be quite fun!) Rituals are an enlivening way to fully embody and integrate your transition. I have a lifetime of experience participating in and creating rituals, and I've found them to be an amazing way to enhance life's meaning and support me to move through tough moments.
I am currently doing the following types of work with clients going through transition:
-Fundraising strategy and implementation for non-profits in transition
-Designing and implementing off-sites for teams experiencing major transition (layoffs, acquisitions, etc)
-Coaching elders transitioning through retirement and beyond, around spending time and money aligned with values and needs
-Coaching young professionals seeking fulfilling careers
-Coaching transitioning federal workers
-Post-partum transition rituals for mamas
Here is one client's experience with transition coaching and ritual design:
“Eva reached out to me to offer a coaching session when I was quitting my 'dream job.' This then led to a co-creation of a ritual by the ocean in San Francisco to signify a rebirth into a new chapter of my life. In a time of falling apart and making big changes for my own spiritual survival, having a ceremony to mark the occasion was something I had not really considered. But it did not take long for me to realize I would value doing so. I am grateful for Eva’s guidance and encouragement. The words of wisdom she shared with the witnesses I brought to the ritual made everyone feel connected to one another. It has been four months now since I made the leap, and I am still in the early stages of healing and processing where my next chapter will lead. I know in my heart I will always remember taking this time to acknowledge my intentions to shift the balance in my life. Giving myself this ritual will help to ground me and have a physical and symbolic place to look back on where I was. I am continuing to move through my new beginning with new energy and lightness."
Transition moments are some of the most meaningful ones in life, and the way you approach them can make the difference between deep learning and success, and unnecessary challenge and wasted time. With the right accompaniment, transitions don't have to be so hard.
Reach out to me if you'd like this kind of support or know someone else who might benefit.

Leading a 3 day music conference last weekend with 160+ attendees and teachers was no joke! I’m so grateful we got to run the Kol Retreat for Jewish Music Across the Diaspora for the fourth year in a row. Participants had a wonderful time, and teachers brought their best in teaching and playing, collaborating in beautiful ways. https://lnkd.in/g_pdVNbY
Here’s some of the testimonials that stand out to me about what made it a positive experience for folks:
“Ive been so hungry for Jewish music. This felt like a cultural transmission that’s feeding my heart!”
“This was my first time at Kol and I was not disappointed. The attention given to celebrating all kinds of Jewish music was deep and profound. I felt in community. The food, location, and people were nourishing. I definitely want to stay connected and contribute.”
“Great experience overall! Helping me reconnect with myself and others in a vibrant loving, and caring community. Sweet music awakening the essence of my soul.”
“I experienced, in my short time there, a wonderful, welcoming and immediate intergenerational community vibe.”
“What a joyous, deeply meaningful retreat. With a variety of events, educators, and activities, this weekend was a beautiful time of healing and growth for myself through my Jewish practice.”

In honor of International Women’s Day yesterday, I’m sharing a quick video honoring women who resisted during the Holocaust- you’ll see my grandmother Sonia on the cover here (who was a huge influence in my life and I named my daughter after).
Who are women you want to honor this weekend? ❤️ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HA2_MPD2dRM

Resonant words from one of the Climbers for Palestine leaders who organized this action in Yosemite: “I’ve always loved how climbing instills and develops a warrior mindset, but a nonviolent one. The way those values are built into the climbing ethos and community creates an almost innate moral imperative to act to help others and protect life. That’s already in our blood as climbers. It warms my heart to see this community that we all rely on for so much love and connection reaching out across the world to do what climbers do, which is take bold action to protect each other. It also means a lot to me to speak up as a Jew, because at the bedrock of my Jewish identity is a deep love and respect for all life. Our toast is “l’chaim”—to life. There is an ancient idea that we Jews are meant to live in diaspora, in communities all over the world, so we can be “a light unto the nations.” We have been wanderers for millennia, and we have always been a multiracial, multiethnic, multinational community that has thrived wherever we have lived in freedom and safety, just as our Palestinian siblings once did, and shall again. My direct ancestors escaped and survived the genocidal violence of the Holocaust, as well as centuries of genocidal pogroms before that, at the hands (and hatchets and swords) of white Christian nationalists in the borderlands of Russia, Ukraine, Poland, and Belarus. But many more of my ancestors were martyred in those catastrophes. I honor the ancestors who gifted me my own life by being a light unto my own nation, and I honor our own martyred dead by standing up and speaking out for the living and the beloved in Palestine, who are just as much my blood as any Jew or gentile, and whose lives matter just as much as mine. There is nothing about Israel and America’s genocide against the Palestinian people that serves my Jewish light, life, or freedom, and anyone who claims otherwise tells a murderous lie. It is my mission as a Jew, an American, a writer, and a climber to use every skill and breath I have to fight until Palestine is free, from the river to the sea.”
