Today we left the dock aboard the Pacific Dream with high expectations and a great opportunity to put up some big salmon numbers. Unfortunately, the fish had other plans. Like much of the fleet, we just couldn’t find the action we saw the day before, and we wrapped up the day with 8 salmon for our full load of 24 anglers.

The fishing may have been tough, but the weather couldn’t have been better. We had an outstanding group on board today, from seasoned anglers to first-time fishermen, and everyone kept a great attitude despite the slow bite. Our crew worked hard from start to finish, and Stephanie absolutely threw down in the galley, keeping everyone well-fed and happy throughout the day.

We’ll be taking a short break from salmon until the next opener. Tomorrow it’s back to chasing rockfish and lingcod, so stay tuned for more fishing reports!

Happy Ho**er Sport Fishing – F/V Pacific Dream

Today we ventured out to the main ship channel in search of king salmon. We had plenty of action right from the start, but unfortunately we had a tough time keeping them buttoned up. I’d guess our landing ratio was only about 40% today—that’s right, for every 10 hookups, we may have landed only 4 fish!

Even with the missed opportunities, the action stayed steady throughout the day with a few nice flurries of quality king salmon. By the end of the trip, our 21 anglers landed 25 hefty king salmon.

A big shout-out to Stephanie in the galley for keeping everyone well fed. She had hot breakfast sandwiches and fresh coffee ready in the morning, then followed it up with her delicious cheeseburgers for lunch, along with plenty of snacks, sodas, and candy bars to keep everyone fueled throughout the day.

Pacific Dream Fishing Report – Happy Ho**er Sport Fishing

Today we left the dock with 11 anglers and headed for the San Mateo coastline, where we had a fantastic day of mixed-bag fishing!

Our group wanted to experience a little bit of everything, so we started the morning targeting lingcod. The action was excellent, and we finished with 25 lingcod (including 3 crew fish) along with 50 rockfish, just shy of half limits, also adding 3 Hefty Cabazone

After that, we made our way back inside San Francisco Bay to chase striped bass. We managed to put 18 striped bass on the deck before calling it a day.

The smiles said it all! We had several kids and first-time anglers onboard, and watching them reel in quality fish and make lifelong memories is what it’s all about.

🎣 Pacific Dream Fishing Report – Happy Ho**er Sport Fishing 🎣

Today we left the dock with a very light load of just 9 anglers and headed out the Gate in search of striped bass and halibut.

The morning started off a little slow, but once we found the right area, the action picked up in a big way! We landed on some exceptionally hefty halibut, with many fish in the upper teens and low- to mid-20-pound range. The largest fish of the day tipped the scales at approximately 26 pounds! We also added a few striped bass to round out the day.

Final Count:

🐟 3 striped bass
🎣 9 anglers

🎣 Happy Ho**er Sport Fishing – F/V Pacific Dream 🎣

Today we mixed things up with a Captain’s Choice Potluck trip, targeting rockfish, lingcod, and striped bass—and the fishing was excellent right from the start!

Our 11 anglers had a fantastic day, finishing with:
🐟 21 lingcod (just one fish shy of limits!)
🐟 Full limits of rockfish, including near limits of jumbo vermilion rockfish
🐟 19 striped bass, just a few fish short of the overall limit

Another fun day on the water with plenty of action and some outstanding quality fish!

We’re headed back out tomorrow, and the weather and passenger count will help determine our game plan. We may target striped bass, halibut, rockfish, or salmon—or mix it up again!

Not every day on the water is a wide-open bite, but that’s fishing!

Today aboard the Pacific Dream, we wrapped up our salmon trip off Point Reyes. The bite was on the tougher side for us, and between a few tangles and several fish that came unbuttoned, we finished the day with 19 chunky King Salmon for 24 anglers.

Some boats found themselves in the right place at exactly the right time and put together some excellent scores. It just wasn’t our day, but that’s the nature of salmon fishing. We’ll be back out there and ready to get after them again soon!

🎣 Happy Ho**er Sport Fishing – F/V Pacific Dream 🎣

Today we left the dock with 10 anglers and headed off the Marin Headlands in search of King Salmon. It was scratch fishing throughout the day, but we never went more than 20–30 minutes without some action. The bites stayed steady from start to finish, and by the end of the day we came up just one fish shy of limits for the boat!

Our final tally was 19 beautiful King Salmon and 2 bonus striped bass. That last salmon was definitely within reach—or maybe just out of reach of the net—as we lost a few heartbreakers right at the boat. The toughest one was an absolute giant, estimated around 25 pounds, that slipped away at the net.

Even with a couple of hard-luck losses, it was an outstanding day on the water with quality fish and a great group of anglers. We’ll happily take days like this!

Today we stayed inside San Francisco Bay, and the fishing did not disappoint! We finished the day with 22 quality limits of striped bass, including a couple of crew fish, 2 halibut, and a token white seabass to round out the catch.

With most of the fishing pressure focused on salmon right now, the bay bass bite has been exceptionally good, providing excellent action and beautiful quality fish.
