Gladiators Roll to 72–30 Victory in Week 2 While the Middle School and Jr Gladiators Fall in Their Openers

The Gladiators delivered a dominant all-around performance in Week 2, racing past the Charleston Bible School Lions of Judah, 72–30. The offense piled up 72 points, but the defense was just as influential, creating turnovers and consistently putting pressure on the Lions of Judah.

Junior Cavin Lemelin led the charge with a spectacular two-way performance. He carried 13 times for 230 yards and five touchdowns, then added a successful two-point conversion. Lemelin also caught one pass for 35 yards and a touchdown. On defense, he made three tackles, intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble.

Cayden Miller made an impact in every phase. He completed 2 of 9 passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception, and added 15 carries for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Miller also converted three two-point attempts. Defensively, he finished with seven tackles—including three for loss—a fumble recovery, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.

Markel Rhodes contributed 21 rushing yards on four carries and scored on a two-point conversion. He also hauled in one pass for 26 yards and a touchdown, then added a tackle and two pass breakups on defense.

Gunnar Boothroyd needed only two carries to gain 31 yards and score a touchdown. He also recorded two defensive tackles.

Freshman William Richard carried three times for two yards, but his biggest impact came on defense. He posted eight tackles, including four tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.

Sophomore Colton Boothroyd added four tackles, while freshman Cian Shannon recorded one. Junior Ethan Biggart finished with three tackles, including one for loss.

Younger Gladiators Battle Hard

The Gladiators’ younger teams faced difficult tests in Week 2. The Junior Gladiators fell to Fryeburg, 33–6, while the Middle School Gladiators were shut out by Freeport, 56–0. Both teams continued to compete hard and gain valuable experience. Individual statistics were unavailable at press time.

Gladiators Back Home This Week

The Junior Gladiators return to Memorial Field this week for an 11:00 a.m. kickoff, with the Middle School Gladiators scheduled to follow at 1:00 p.m.

The High School Gladiators will be on the road against the Central Maine Eagles, looking to carry the momentum from their emphatic Week 2 victory into the next challenge.

The Gladiators High School team put together an impressive performance, defeating the Charleston Lions of Judah 72-30. The Gladiators played with energy, confidence and toughness throughout the game, making big plays on both sides of the ball and earning a well-deserved victory. Congratulations to the players and coaches on a tremendous effort!

Our JR team also showed plenty of heart in a 33-6 loss to Fryeburg, battling hard from start to finish. The Middle School team faced a tough Freeport squad, falling 54-0, but continued to compete and gain valuable experience.

It was a weekend that demonstrated the continued growth of Gladiators Football. Congratulations to all of our players and coaches!

Gladiators Battle Silver Huskies in 66-22 Loss.

The Gladiators showed production on both sides of the ball in their matchup with the Silver Huskies team.

On offense, Markel Rhodes led the rushing attack with 17 carries for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Caden Miller added 23 yards and a touchdown on seven carries, while Cavin Lemelin rushed five times for 82 yards.

Through the air, Cayden completed 4 of 10 passes for 85 yards. Rhodes caught one pass for 47 yards, Lemelin added two receptions for 38 yards, and William Richard recorded one catch for 10 yards.

Offensive line blocked well in spurts and showed improvement throughout the game. Offense moved the ball very well in between the 20 & 20 of the field but had issues getting into the end zone on red zone trips

Danny Yeaton contributed 35 kick-return yards on eight attempts.

Defensively, the Gladiators were led by Lemelin’s seven tackles. Richard added five tackles, a forced fumble and an interception he returned 15 yards. Miller recorded four tackles with a pass breakup, while Markel Rhodes contributed a tackle and a pass breakup. Yeaton and Connor Dube each added one tackle. While Ethan Biggart and Cian Shannon played solid on the line.

The Gladiators defense surrendered 34 of the Huskies’ 66 points with the remainder of the points being given up on a turnover and special teams. The defensive unit also created turnovers, made key stops and controlled its assignments up front, showing that the final score did not fully reflect the Gladiators’ overall performance in this 66-22 loss.
