This morning we hosted the Ski Area Management students from Gogebic Community College for a behind-the-scenes tour of Big Powderhorn. It’s a privilege to help the next generation of ski industry leaders learn the (wire) ropes right here in the U.P. and just down the road from Big Powderhorn! ⛷️❄️🎓📓

Swing on by to swap your ski equipment and support young local skiers! Ironwood Ski Team 🎿⛷️

It’s that time of year to clean out your gear and get ready for the new season. Drop-off your gear and find something new, while supporting your area High School Ski Team.

Colors are in full display in the U.P., & “fall grooming” is nearly complete as we continue the march towards ski season. Mowing our backyard requires a slightly different approach than most backyards, so we mow with several pieces of equipment, including two of these TT70 slope mowers from Aebi - Aebi Schmidt Group - with locking differentials, four wheel steering, etc, these machines are capable of mowing nearly all of our steep terrain with ease. 🍁🍂

We continue improvements, right now we are adding snowmaking pipe to improve flow to the east side of Big Powderhorn. While we have use of a larger excavator, we took the opportunity to remove some brush and trees to restore some runs like the skiers right side of Bovidae to their original width, reclaim some lost ground, and expand our skiable surface. You will notice it the first time you ski Bovidae this winter. Thank you for following along as we continue to work hard to deliver a high quality skiing and riding experience. 🪏 ⛷️🏂🍁

Knock knock, who’s there? 👀 ❕❕ Last summer we upgraded our pumphouse; we will now put all that pumping capacity to work with 8 more guns from DEMACLENKO to add to our firepower, as we continue to invest in bringing you ski trip memories that’ll last a lifetime 💪
