Someone asked me recently if tracking macros can trigger an eating disorder. It's a good question & a common fear.

As someone who battled an eating disorder before tracking macros my answer is not if done properly with the right education & guidance.

Honestly, learning more about nutrition, macros & how to properly fuel my body was a super helpful step in my recovery.

Tracking macros should never be about trying to eat as little as possible, even in a weight loss phase. The goal, especially in a weight loss phase, should always be trying to optimize your metabolism & hormones by eating as much as possible while still reaching your goals.

Like I said it's important to do it the right way though or it could definitely create an unhealthy mindset & unhealthy habits. This is the reason I became a coach & educate along the way.

Let's have FUN!

Starting your fitness journey can be incredibly overwhelming, intense and confusing... but it doesn't have to be! The best way to get started is to just do things that sound fun. Get your body moving! Explore around your city, go on walks and increase your steps for the day. Channel your inner kid and have fun on a jungle gym at a park with a friend! Sign up for a group fitness course like cycling or a dance class to meet new people. Go somewhere new and do something different like swimming, hiking or rock climbing!

Above all, fitness is about movement. Get active and have FUN!

Joy and happiness are just outside your comfort zone!

You don't have to be thrust into the unknown, but you do have to take some risks to try new things! Maybe you try wearing something different for once. Maybe you try a new recipe for dinner. Maybe you go to a new gym or try a new activity. Sometimes you find something new that you LOVE and other times, you learn that you don't like something. Learning what you don't like can actually help steer you in a direction to figure out what you do enjoy.

Your comfort zone is all about survival and validating your fears, so how can you expand your comfort zone this week to start thriving and living a life without any regrets?

You are unique! You are enough! And you have nothing to prove to anybody!
Your approval and acceptance of yourself is the ONLY opinion that matters. It is the impossible task to change how anyone else thinks of you, but you can control the way you think about yourself! Are you creating a safe space that allows for you to be your true self or are you still hiding parts of your personality from certain people? Are you speaking kind words to yourself or are you repeating other people's opinions and perceptions of who you are?

Do it because you love yourself!

Working out can seem like a punishment when you first start out... you're sweating, you're tired, your body doesn't move that way, all of the weights seem heavy, and your whole body is sore after... but if you reframe your mindset? You're reminding yourself that the good things in life require hard work and dedication, you're teaching yourself to push past your boundaries, you're building confidence in yourself, and you're gaining strength! You're choosing to move your body because it creates a healthier version of yourself, mentally and physically! You're doing it because you love yourself enough to grow into the best version of you ๐Ÿ’•
