A powerful way to take the ice. 🏒

Before last night’s game, Coach John “Pop” McCabe led the Lehigh University Ice Hockey D1 team onto the ice with the sound of the bagpipes filling Steel Ice Center.

We were also honored to welcome local first responders to the ice for the ceremonial puck drop — a fitting moment of recognition and gratitude on September 11.

Thank you to the men and women who serve our communities every day, and to Coach McCabe for helping make the evening’s opening something truly special.

We remember. We honor. We are grateful.

🏒 Developmental League – Player of the Practice 🏒

It was a short week for D-League with no Monday practice for Labor Day, but we made Wednesday night count!

Congratulations to Eliza, this week’s Developmental League Player of the Practice! 👏

Eliza is a first grader, loves school, and just started back last week. But when we put her on the spot and made her choose between school and hockey practice…

Her favorite drill of the night? Passing — an answer we're told Dad should be pretty happy about.

And after steak and lobster made appearances in our recent Player of the Practice interviews, Eliza finally brought the post-practice menu back down to earth:

Week 1. Year 1. ✅🧊📚

That’s a wrap on the very first week of Steel Ice Sports Academy.

Before our student-athletes headed out for the long Labor Day weekend, we checked in with Brody and John for one last Week 1 report.

Brody’s assessment of his first week?

“Very good.”

Classes?

“Extremely good.” 😎

Now he’s looking forward to the long weekend — and maybe getting in a little fishing with Dad. 🎣

John had a pretty simple review of his first week:

“It was fun. I like it.”

Favorite part? Hockey. Obviously. 🏒

More specifically, getting to work on his shot — which should come in handy considering he’s heading straight from Week 1 of SISA into a four-game showcase this weekend.

From Monday morning’s first-ever arrival to Friday afternoon’s final check-in, our inaugural class officially has its first week in the books.

One week down.

A whole lot more ahead.
