Let’s talk Chaturanga Dandasana (aka the yoga push-up) and those sneaky upper traps that LOVE to take over. 👀

There are a lot of moving parts to this posture, but whether you’re new to yoga or refining a longtime practice, I find it’s best to focus on one piece of the puzzle at a time.

Today, it’s the upper traps.

Ever notice your shoulders creeping toward your ears as you lower? Sometimes that’s a sign we’re asking our bodies to do more than they can comfortably control. And rather than forcing our way through, we can modify, build strength, and find a little more ease.

Sound familiar beyond the mat?

Those same muscles have a way of tensing up when we’re stressed, frustrated, or resisting something difficult.

Maybe the lesson isn’t always to push harder, but to recognize when we’re creating unnecessary tension and learn to soften.

In Chaturanga, that might mean dropping your knees. In life, maybe it’s simply allowing a difficult moment to pass without fighting it.

The Faces That Built bluespot Pt. II

7 years ago, we locked the doors of our Main Street studio for the very last time.

Just months earlier, we had unexpectedly lost our lease. Everything happened fast, and suddenly we were scrambling to figure out where bluespot would go next.

What makes the story even wilder is that 396 N. Cassady — “the gas station” — was the initial space I wanted back in 2015 but at the time, it wasn’t available.

Then years later, in the middle of the scramble, I got a text:

“Are you still interested in the gas station?”

It felt — and still feels — serendipitous.

This reel captures that transition:
our final class on Main Street,
introducing 396 N. Cassady,
the construction,
and our very first class in the new space.

At the end of that final Main Street class, the room ended up singing “End of the Road” together — a moment I’ll never forget.

And when I walked out afterward, my mom, dad, aunt, and uncle were standing outside the doors with roses in hand, ready to help me pack up the final pieces of that chapter.

7 years later, I still can’t fully believe what this community has built together.

June 6 we celebrate 10 years of bluespot 💙

If you’ve ever practiced with us — even once — you’re part of this story.
