Think being tough on yourself will get you there faster? Think again.
Olympic athletes don’t tear themselves down to reach extraordinary heights – they use powerful, positive self-talk to fuel their success.
So why are you beating yourself up?
If you want extraordinary results, it’s time to leave the self-criticism behind. Talking down to yourself only drains motivation and slows your progress.
TV Shows like The Biggest Loser, where trainers yell like drill sergeants, have contributed to this idea that being mean to ourselves is what we need to get motivated.
The best performers on the planet speak to themselves with positive intention. They coach themselves like champions, especially when things get tough. This is where real change happens.
Next time you’re up against a challenge, try this:
-Write down positive, motivating phrases.
-Use them in moments of struggle to lift yourself up instead of tearing yourself down.
And when you fail (because we all do), remember: your self-talk in those moments defines your comeback. Treat every setback as a lesson and keep moving forward.
You have the power to shift your mindset and unlock your best performance. It all starts with how you speak to yourself.

Last weekend was one for record books! Spartan Super 10k in Big Bear.
I had done a Spartan 5k in 2019 at a different location and thought this one would be slightly more challenging.
Our team wasn’t prepared for how mentally and physically challenging this course would be. A 10k course with 3,000 ft elevation gain and drop, 25 obstacles, and high altitude made for one of the most challenging races I’ve ever done.
Im grateful for doing this with an amazing team of people that helped me go beyond what I thought was possible. By focusing on my breathing, one step at a time, teamwork, and beautiful views from the top of Big Bear, I was able to push through physically and mentally. At one point, I was even jogging with after our legs thought we couldn’t handle anymore.
Onward to the next challenge! 💪🏻💪🏻

I see a lot of sleep hacks out there and a lot of enthusiasm for trying new things to help with sleep.
If you’re trying to improve your sleep, before you try a bunch of hacks, take time to understand the problem you’re trying to solve.
One of the most important things I think you can do is to keep a journal of your sleep to understand where specifically you need help—or even if you do need solutions.
Trying a bunch of solutions without understanding the problem and measuring the impact is like randomly taking a bunch of prescription medications for conditions you may not have.
Here are some things I learned from my sleep journal:
-I’m not going to bed and waking close to the same time every day
-I’m waking up more in the nights than I think I should
-I wake up most the time and feel refreshed and don’t feel tired during the day
