Tactacam

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆. ✨

The morning started after school drop-off. I headed into the woods on a new property we picked up this year, with only a rough idea of where the birds might be. I decided to slip in quiet until finding a spot where I could see good and move if I needed to. After a few calls, a gobble sounded off, I picked out a tree and sat down. The bird ended up circling up and around but I was able to crawl into a new position yet it wasn’t quite close enough for me to feel comfortable pulling the trigger. It was such an awesome hunt nevertheless.

Just after lunch I got back out and had about 3 hours before I had to pick my oldest up from school. I sat in the same place basically the whole time, just trying to listen. There were a couple birds gobbling but weren’t where I could be so I left them alone after seeing a hen feed up their way. It comes about time to leave and a crow flies over, let’s out a caw and a bird gobbles behind me, I’m almost positive I know where he’s at. I eventually get to where I have to cross the field with no cover, I look around and make a break for the wood line. I’m standing there listening, trying to figure out how I can get out without spooking him and I hear a twig pop, I turn, take a step and there he is 3 yards on top of me! He jumps, I jump and I hit my knees. I pop my fan up in front of me and made a few cuts. He stopped but has no idea what had just happened but I didn’t have a shot. Eventually he turns and circles around a group of trees in the field and comes out where I can pull the trigger. The second his head rose I squeezed the trigger and he hit the ground! Talk about an adrenaline rush! I ended up leaving the bird tucked in the shade until I grabbed my son from school so he could see it first, he was pumped!

"Turkey hunting has been an absolute passion of mine for many years. Ive been fortunate enough to travel and hunt several states . Blessed to have introduced not only my kids but also my grandkids who share my love of hunting. This past weekend was Ky youth season, we took Brair,age 7 , and he had an epic hunt,harvested a really nice bird, 22 lbs,11 inch beard 1.5 spur on one side and 1.40 on other! My ultra caught not only the show the Tom's put on but also the shot,and priceless photos afterwards. From giving him his own box call the night before ( and listening to him call for hours) to ending the day with a biologist from the University of Georgia taking DNA samples of his bird and giving him a certificate, and all in between, it was an unforgettable hunt. .Briar said afterwards he didnt know his heart could beat so fast and why was his legs shaking so bad. Give God the glory because there was some Divine intervention, he was literally shaking so hard we were shocked when the bird fell 🦃 🤣 THIS is what it is all about yall, kids, excitement on their faces and quality time spent."

Meet Kara Hamby: Director of Trade Shows & Marketing Programs at Tactacam.

If you’ve stopped by a Tactacam booth at a trade show, chances are you’ve met Kara. She leads the strategy behind nearly 90 shows a year while helping grow relationships across the outdoor industry through our Outfitter Program and Tactacam Team network.

But Kara’s journey with Tactacam started long before the office — as a customer and passionate hunter herself. From filming hunts with a Tactacam 2.0 in 2017 to becoming a full-time part of the team, her story is built on a genuine love for the outdoors and the people in it.
What she enjoys most? The relationships made along the way. Whether it’s talking hunting at trade shows, helping customers, or spending time outdoors with family, Kara truly lives the TactaFamily culture.
