PLAYER PROFILE: Nylah “Handles” Anderson

We won the lottery this past week! Building a travel basketball team is not always about the present; sometimes it’s about the future. And we added a huge piece to our future. Nylah is a 6th grade student from Binghamton. She has great ball handling skills, a perfect shot, and basketball IQ beyond her young age. She has proven to be extremely coachable after just two weeks. As good as our team is this season, come 2027, with the development of young players like Nylah and Emma Kinner . . . watch out . . . this team will be lethal. Welcome to the team, Nylah!

Short three players, this group dug deep to win the Top Tier Events Scranton Shootout. The girls played suffocating defense all weekend not allowing any of their opponents to score more than 20 points against them.

Girls played under the Jumbotron today and earned the “1 Seed” heading into tomorrow’s bracket play.

Down their star point-guard to illness, two other stars out of the game for extended minutes in foul trouble, Lisa, Ruby, and Abby combined for 32 points to lead their team on a first half comeback, down by 10, and a 24 point win against a speedy team from Utica.

These 6th and 7th grade girls are off and running this travel season with a 9-0 start - many of their games have been against 8th and 9th grade teams. The girls have played teams from all over Central New York and had their ceremonial slugfest game against the Southern Tier Surge (one of the elite teams in our area). Rage on girls!
