Last but not least is Melissa Paredes! Melissa joined the team her sophomore year competing in Novice and remained a dedicated member of the team throughout her time at Binghamton. Her positive attitude and love for the sport made her such a valued part of BUET.

Melissa says that this team allowed her to reconnect with the little girl in her that always loved horses. Going to the barn quickly became the highlight of her week, and she always left lessons feeling calm, accomplished, and motivated. She is especially grateful for Mimi, whose coaching continuously pushed her to become a better athlete and helped shape her confidence both in and out of the ring. Melissa is so thankful for everyone on the team and the memories they created together over the years.

Graduating with a degree in PPL with a concentration in Pre-Law, Melissa is excited for what comes next after graduation. We are so proud of all she has accomplished and cannot wait to see where life takes her next!

Our next graduate is Qian Jiang! Qian joined the team her junior year in Intro. Coming in with no riding experience, she embraced every opportunity to learn and grow along the way, and was an amazing asset to the team!

Qian says that what she loves most about BUET is the people. She joined the team knowing absolutely nothing about riding, but over the years she met so many amazing teammates and learned so much from them. From the supportive environment to the incredible horses, BUET made her college experience so memorable and gave her friendships and memories she will always cherish.

Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Forensic Health, Qian plans to spend the next year studying for the LSAT with hopes of attending law school in the future. We cannot wait to see where this next chapter takes her!

The first weekend of April, four of our riders competed in the Zone II Championship. Sydney Nierstedt, Mary Louise Penfield, Albina Martynenko, and Aniyah Delany delivered incredible rounds against tough competition, and we couldn’t be prouder as a team!

This year also marks the highest number of zone qualifiers we’ve had as a team at Binghamton University. A huge accomplishment and a testament to all the hard work this season!
