The Agency is thrilled to announce its support for Vanguard Village, a major community revitalization project that will transform a long-vacant, six-acre property at 187 Clinton Street in Binghamton’s First Ward into a vibrant, modern neighborhood of 288 brand-new, affordable homes. Under active NYS DEC oversight, this project will clean up a former industrial site and replace it with a 100% all-electric, carbon-neutral community.
The project will be built in two phases: The Hudson, which includes 178 quality units (with 16 dedicated to supportive housing), and The Prospect, adding 110 apartments alongside 4,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space. In addition to delivering much-needed energy-efficient housing for working families and local residents, this landmark development will provide a boost to the local economy by generating an estimated 560 construction jobs.
