"We'll pick it back up once the season settles down."
Every family says some version of that when the school year starts, and every one of them means it. It sounds completely reasonable when the calendar looks like a wall and you just need one thing to give.
The trouble is that the season never settles down. It changes shape. Football turns into homework turns into a winter sport turns into the holidays and then it's a new year, and the calm stretch you were waiting for never actually shows up. By the time there's room again it's spring, and he spends the first month getting back exactly what he already built this summer.
That isn't a discipline problem and it isn't about wanting it badly enough. It's just what happens when the plan is to wait for a good time.
So don't wait for one. Tell us what his fall actually looks like, the practices and the pickups and the nights that are already gone, and we'll find an hour somewhere inside it. It doesn't have to be what he was doing in the summer. Even a smaller version keeps the thread, and keeping the thread is the whole game.
Ready to keep him training through the season?
