A New Chapter for Upper Limits Bloomington

After more than 30 incredible years of climbing, community, and unforgettable moments, we have decided to officially put Upper Limits Bloomington up for sale, which includes the business and building. For three decades, this gym has stood as the tallest climbing gym in Illinois and a go-to destination for indoor climbers who love big walls and bigger challenges. From the outdoor boulder to the iconic silo walls, this one-of-a-kind jungle gym-style facility has meant so much to so many. Incredibly, we were named one of the “Seven of the Most Innovative Gyms in the World” By Smithsonian in January 2016.

This decision was not made lightly. Since we are not there locally, it has become increasingly difficult to continue operating the facility the way it deserves. That said, this isn’t just a goodbye; it’s also an opportunity. Before opening the door to outside buyers, we wanted to give our Upper Limits climbing community first consideration. We would love nothing more than to see this historic space remain a climbing gym, run by climbers who understand what makes it special. To the Bloomington Normal and surrounding communities, thank you. Thank you for 30-plus years of support, passion, and memories. This place has been more than just a gym; it has been home.
