Fortunate to be among such dedicated and accomplished karateka.
This is an historic moment for Oyatkata Kobujitsu. The very first Dan ranks have been earned and presented.
There are specific requirements for each Dan rank. Each certificate front side lists the three (3) new proficiencies for the rank. On the backside of the certificate all the proficiencies that have been used to achieve the prior rank are listed.
Proficiencies Categories - Kata, Bunkai, and Oyo
Kata - must perform the weapons kata and demonstrate knowledge of the movements in the kata
Bunkai - must demonstrate knowledge of techniques derived from the kata
Oyo - must demonstrate at full speed and power the use of techniques
Congratulations to Glenn, Manny, Adam, and Joe! Hard earned and well deserved.

Great training with great people at Blake Burgert's Gasshuku 2022 in Wisconsin. Blake and Jim Toolan really have a grasp on Taika's finer points and techniques. Pleasure to work with them!

Open to all systems/styles.
2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the passing of this truly gifted karate practitioner. We would like to invite everyone to come and celebrate the life Taika Seiyu Oyata.
A seminar will be held the weekend of his birthday in/near Merriam Kansas. Two days of training with long time students of Taika will be providing training in a variety of sessions that will be sure to be of interest to any martial artist.
There will be a visit to Taika's grave stie with a picture in full uniform on Friday after training. Everyone invited to show your respect.
