Strength training isn’t just about building muscle — it’s about building a stronger, healthier life.

As we age (especially for women in their 40s+), we naturally lose muscle mass, which can slow metabolism, impact bone density, and make everyday activities feel harder than they should. The good news…. Weight training is one of the most powerful tools we have to fight back.

Here’s just a few reasons why I could preach all day on the benefits of lifting weights-

• Supports a healthy metabolism
• Builds and protects bone density
• Improves balance and reduces injury risk
• Enhances energy, mood, and confidence
• Helps maintain a lean and strong body

You don’t need to spend hours in the gym. Consistency matters more than perfection. Even 2–3 sessions a week can make a big difference.

8 years ago today I opened the doors to my own gym. I can’t believe it’s been that long. Time flies when you’re having fun. Not a day goes by that I don’t realize how lucky I am to love my job, love going to work each day and love all of my clients. Thankful every single day!!!

Garlic Chickpea Soup

This has been my new obsession. I make it once a week and It’s so yummy.

Ingredients
1 Tbsp olive oil, plus more for drizzling
3 large garlic cloves, minced or pressed
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp dried rosemary
½ tsp dried thyme
¼ tsp chili flakes
2 cans (15 oz each) chickpeas
1 large potato, diced
2 cups (480 ml) low-sodium vegetable or chicken broth
1 lemon squeezed
salt & black pepper, to taste
Green onions chopped (optional, to add to top)

Add one of the cans of chickpeas with its liquid into a blender and purée until smooth.
Heat olive oil, add the cubed potato and chopped onion, parprika, rosemary, thyme, chili flakes, and some freshly cracked pepper and kosher salt, give a good stir. After carmelized add chopped garlic
Add broth and stir again.
Squeeze whole lemon Into soup and stir.

Place a lid on the pot, turn the heat up to medium-high, and bring the soup to a simmer then turn the heat down to medium low and allow it to simmer for 25 minutes, stirring and adjust the seasoning according to your taste.
