Well, the good news is that we are in the race! The bad news is that it was a very stressful day of Quals! We came in 27th position- on our 3rd attempt!! Our time was 2:37.6. We were flying on our first attempt but got flagged for an early touch on our 3rd exchange. We will just say that it was very, very close and should not have been called. We then proceeded to wreck on our 2nd attempt. The 3rd attempt was a slooww roll going all bike to bike exchanges. As we were one of the first teams out in the morning, we were pushed to the end of the day. The team should be given huge props for sitting on that pressure for 7 hours!! And they handled the 3rd go like pros. Reminder - Phi Psi has qualified for 69 of 70 races! These guys were not going to be denied! Now on to bigger and better things! The spring series and Little 500! Live Ever Die Never!!

The boys are back!! Meet your 2025 Phi Psi Bike Team. L-R: Nick Tschetter (SR), Albert Schafer (SR), Hunter Jones (JR) Parker Etnyre (FR). Not shown - Charlie Fisher. The team just concluded a hard working spring break in BTown. Two a days with the track and on the road, plus the myriad of torturous workouts from Coach Dan Gaz! With three returning riders the team is focused on improving on last years 9th place finish- and cracking the top 5 (at least!). We are once again represented by a tremendous group of young men, who are incredibly committed and dedicated. Quals are coming up next Saturday (March 29) and the race is Saturday April 26. As always we hope to see some representation in the stands from our many alumni and friends. We will start upping the communications leading into the race, spring series events, etc. Let's Go Phi Psi!!

If you haven't seen the result, Phi Psi finished 9th in the race this year. It was a hard fought and fast race. Congrats to the guys for a year long effort which once again placed us in the top 10. And thank you to all of our supporters!!! We are getting ready to send out tee shirts. The house did a great job again this year, going old school with our banners! If you have not done so already, please email your mailing address and size to:
indianaphipsi@gmail. Or message this site. We also have quite a few left- so please visit our GoFundMe page if you would like to help out the team and assist in our summer training program. LEDN!!

The team concluded the spring cycling series with solid results in Miss N’ Out and Team Pursuit. Overall, we finished a strong 6th place in the overall spring series standings. Now with those events behind us, Kaleb, Albert, Hunter, and Nick are focused on the big prize this weekend- the Little 500!
We hope that you are able to make it back for the race. If you cannot make it to Bloomington and want to follow the race, you can stream it at: https://broadcast.iu.edu/
The team would also like to send out a huge thank you to the brothers and friends that have responded to our call with a donation. The young men greatly appreciate all of your support! We are $600 away from our $3500 goal for this year. And, we still have Phi Psi race day tee shirts available for alumni donations of $100 or more. Please consider helping out the team, and the chapter, in this way! As you well know, our success and prominence in the Little 500 is legendary, and it remains as one of our distinguishing characteristics on campus today.
Donations of any amount directly support Coach Gaz and the team! Thank you!

With our team securing 16th in Quals, excitement in the chapter for Little 5 is already approaching a fever pitch! Everyone remains determined to ‘Finish the Mission’ this year and bring the 8th Little 500 trophy to Phi Kappa Psi!
Since rebuilding and returning to the race in 2018, the team has made us all proud by finishing in the top 10 in all five races (race cxl’d in 2020). As you know, Phi Psi was in a commanding position throughout the three races, only to suffer heartbreaking defeats on the last lap.
We are back this year with another strong team planning to contend once again. Our team riders are; Kaleb Cooper (4th year/3rd race); Albert Schafer (3rd year/2nd race); Hunter Jones (2nd year/2nd race); and Nick Tschetter (2nd year/1st race). We’ve also got three dedicated rookies giving us a deep bench for the future. Under the incredible guidance of Coach Dan Gaz, ([email protected]) the team has worked their butts off over the winter and this spring and are getting ready to peak on race day!
This is also traditionally the time of year that we ask for your financial support for the team. It has taken considerable effort and resources to return our bike team to its rightful standing as race contenders year in and year out. Your donation means so much to the team! Beyond the money, alumni involvement motivates them immensely, as they know that so many care so much about their success! We all thank you for your continued support! If you are in a position to make a donation this year, there are several ways to give:
www.gofundme.com (search Phi Psi Bike Team 2024)
VenMo: -Gilreath-2
Pay Pal:
Mail a check: Phi Kappa Psi Bike Team 6039 E. Oak St. Evansville, IN 47715
Your donation directly and 100% supports our bike team budget, which includes expenses for training gear, software training platforms, strength training coach, nutrition, bike equipment and repairs, training equipment, coaches travel, winter team training trip to Florida, and team morale! Importantly, the money raised now will greatly help the team and coach Gaz sustain our current high level of success into the future.
All donations are hugely helpful and appreciated! This year, everyone who makes a gift to the team of $100 or more will be sent the Chapter’s Phi Psi Little 500 t-shirt as our way of saying thanks!! If you would like a t-shirt, please email your SIZE and preferred mailing address to me at [email protected].
Lastly, the team would like to extend a huge heavenly thank you to Alan Lambert, ’84. Alan passed away in 2022, and left a very thoughtful estate gift to the team that we received this year. Thank you Alan! Amazing!!
