Westside MMA

Welcome to Westside MMA! We started our journey as the Normal West Boxing Club in 2021.

We have now expanded beyond our high school to include anyone high school age and older in Bloomington/Normal, IL.

Sparring fun! Our level 2 fighters start sparring after the foundation they build in level 1. We start slowly in each lesson and build on defensive work and pad rounds. We then spar three rounds each practice. Sparring starts light and builds as we go.

Each time our focus is on helping each other get better. No ego sparring!

This group is laying the foundation of what our West kids will do at Westside MMA at Normal West High School.

We have had an absolutely great start to our new home for Westside MMA at Normal West High School. We are up to 15 students who meet at 5:45am, train for an hour, then meet in my classroom to study and have fellowship time together. We look forward to adding a few more students and faculty next week to have our team full for this semester.

First week involves learning the basics and then we progress from there. We have over 90 lessons in Dutch Kickboxing, Filipino Boxing, and Muay Thai ready to teach!

STATE CHAMPS!!!!

Congratulations to the Normal West Mock Trial team and coach Bierbaum!!

From Dr. Bierbaum:
If you see the following students tomorrow, please congrat them and have some grace as the Normal West Mock Trial brought home a state championship tonight! We competed in (3) trials and finally made it home late tonight after two days of competition.

We will now be given a new 200+ page civil case in preparation for Nationals held in early May to learn. It is only the second time in IL history that a team south of I-80 has ever won state.
