Someone says “okay, who’s away?” And you just... smile and nod. Because you have no idea what that means, and you are not about to be the one who asks.
That was me. More than once. I nodded through “away,” through “gimme,” through someone yelling “fore” and me not knowing if I was supposed to duck or run.
This game isn’t hard because you’re bad at it. It’s hard because it has its own language, and nobody ever sits you down and explains it. So you just guess, and hope, and pray you’re not the one holding up the group.
You don’t have to guess anymore.
I put together a free Beginner Golf Checklist with the terms, etiquette, and unwritten rules I wish someone had handed me on day one so you can walk up to the tee knowing exactly what “away” means (and a dozen other things), instead of just nodding along.
