Summer doesn’t push bass out of the shallows the way people think. It pushes them into the shade.

Docks. Overhanging bushes. Matted grass. Anything blocking direct sun and holding cooler, oxygenated water still has fish on it, even in July heat. The difference is timing. Early morning and late evening, they’ll roam a little. Midday, they’re locked into the thickest shade they can find and they are not coming out to chase.
