Several years ago I had the opportunity to speak at the University of Central Florida about careers in Sports Medicine and Human Performance.

At the time, the goal was simple: help students understand that the health and fitness field is much broader than just “being a trainer.”

Under the sports medicine umbrella alone there are career paths such as:

✅ Athletic Training
✅ Strength & Conditioning
✅ Physical Therapy
✅ Sports Nutrition
✅ Exercise Physiology
✅ Biomechanics
✅ Sports Psychology
✅ Coaching & Performance Science

Many students initially assume the pathway into health and performance is narrow.

In reality, it’s one of the most interdisciplinary and opportunity-rich fields that exists.

Today I’m fortunate to see that same curiosity in my own classroom while teaching Exercise Science and Anatomy & Physiology.

Some students want to become physicians.
Others want to coach.
Others are interested in rehabilitation or human performance.

My role isn’t just to teach the material.

It’s to help students see what’s possible in the field.

Because sometimes a single conversation about a career path can help shape the direction of someone’s life.

And that’s one of the most rewarding parts of education.

Today a student asked me a really thoughtful question in class:

"If everyone knows junk food is bad…why do people still eat it?"

It’s a fair question.

My answer was simple:

Most food decisions aren’t about knowledge.

They’re influenced by things like:

❌ Stress
❌ Habits
❌ Environment
❌ Sleep
❌ Social pressure

Interestingly, this is the exact same pattern I see with adults I coach.

Most people don’t actually need another diet plan.

What they often need instead is:

✅ Better daily systems
✅ Better recovery
✅ Greater awareness of their behaviors

This idea is what led me to start developing The Introspect Method.

It’s not another diet.

It’s a framework focused on self-awareness, ownership, and strengthening your faith while improving your health.

Because real change doesn’t start with a meal plan.

It starts with how we think, live, and take responsibility for our choices.

As a health and fitness educator & coach, I'm seeing the same patterns many parents are noticing at home: more phone time, less movement, poor sleep, inconsistent nutrition, and kids struggling to stay focused.

Instead of guessing, I've started collecting anonymous student data to better understand how daily habits affect focus and overall well-being.

Anonymity matters: it allows students to be honest, and honest data leads to better solutions.

If we want healthier, more focused kids, awareness has to come before change.

Parents: what changes have you noticed in your own kids when it comes to screen time, sleep, or focus?

Every time I step into this facility, I’m reminded of how grateful I am for where God has led my career. What started with training adults in commercial & boutique gyms has grown into teaching, coaching, and shaping the next generation—right here in my own community.

Watching these students learn, grow, and gain confidence through movement is one of the most fulfilling parts of my work. Strength is bigger than reps and sets…it’s discipline, character, and belief in what’s possible.

I don’t take this responsibility lightly. I’m honored to pour into them the same way so many coaches poured into me. 🙏🏽

I am super GRATEFUL to these pioneers in the fitness industry! Knowledge and experience are major keys to everyday application. This is exactly what Alan, Brad, and Bret brought to their seminar.

While I’m still relatively new in the fitness business (~15 years), it’s really cool to see the come up these gents have made since I got started. Their extensive hard work, contributions, and dedication to fitness and nutritional sciences has not gone unnoticed as they packed out this seminar in beautiful Ft. Lauderdale!

Thanks to , , and for helping pave the way for me and many others. They’ve helped inspire and direct my career choices along with HOW I educate my clients and students. It was great seeing you guys again!

It’s also really inspiring to connect with so many other passionate fitness and nutrition pros from all over the world. It’s a true testament that doing what you love is not really work at all. It’s all about serving and inspiring others to live abundant lives!

One of the most popular questions I get is, “What kind/brand of protein do you recommend?”

While there are a lot of top notch brands, I would argue that there are even more brands that are sketchy for several reasons:

1️⃣ They add a bunch of filler so you’re paying more money for less ACTUAL protein per scoop.

2️⃣ They “spike” the protein powder with cheaper amino acids to artificially inflate its amino acid score so they can claim it had more protein.

3️⃣ There’s no 3rd party testing to ensure it doesn’t contain banned substances.
