Episode 1: How We Met (& Why We Shouldn’t Have)

If you would’ve met us in high school you probably wouldn’t have expected this story.

Joe was captain of the football team.
Captain of the baseball team.
Popular. Athletic. Everywhere.

I was on the debate team.
I kept to myself more while he seemed to know everyone.

I had no desire to go to college at the time.

Meanwhile, Joe had a full-ride scholarship and a very different path ahead of him.

On paper, we didn’t really make sense.

Different personalities. Different worlds. Different energy.

And honestly?
If we would have met back then it never would have never worked.

But somehow, through life, growth, timing, mistakes, rebuilding, love, loss, kids, businesses, and a lot of learning along the way here we are.

In Episode 1 of Love, Anyway, we’re talking about:
• what first drew us to each other
• who we were back then
• the versions of ourselves we had to grow out of
• and why relationships are rarely as simple as they look from the outside

This isn’t a perfect love story.

It’s a real one.

Not everything looks like love.
And not everything that looks good… is easy.

This is what happens when two strong personalities come together different perspectives, different ways of processing, different ways of showing up.

We’ve built a life together.
We’ve raised kids.
We’ve grown, pushed, disagreed, figured it out and kept going.

And somewhere in all of that, we realized the conversations people need the most are the ones happening behind closed doors.

So we decided to bring them out.

Love, Anyway
Real talk behind closed doors with Maritsa & Joe Kelley

This isn’t surface-level advice.
It’s real conversations about relationships, growth, and what it actually takes to stay, build, and evolve together.

First episodes coming soon.

You don’t need more discipline.
You don’t need another plan.
And you definitely don’t need to “try harder.”

You need a system that actually works for you.

Because the truth is…

You can’t outwork a misaligned system.

This is exactly why I created Obtaining Mastery.

This isn’t surface-level coaching.
This is identity-level work.

The kind that shifts:

* how you think
* how you show up
* and what you allow into your life

So you stop repeating patterns…
and start creating results that actually stick.

Right now, there are three ways to work with me:

✨ VIP Intensive (1 Day, 6 Hours)
✨ 12-Month Private Coaching
✨ Group Coaching (starts September 3rd)

Each one is designed for a different level of proximity, support, and transformation.

But they all have one thing in common:

👉 We don’t just talk about change.
👉 We create it.

If you’ve already done the work…
read the books…
tried the strategies…
and still feel like something isn’t clicking

This is your next step.

There was a moment where everything shifted not because something dramatic happened, but because we finally stopped avoiding what was already obvious.

We were lying in bed, talking about life, stress, direction all the things that quietly pile up when you’re busy being responsible and functional but deeply misaligned.

Earlier that day, I had been thinking about intention not as a wish, but as a state.
The state you live from.
The lens you see through.
The energy you bring into your choices.

Watching someone you love slowly dim is painful.
Not because they’re failing, but because you know who they really are underneath the weight they’re carrying.

For a long time, I watched stress take over.
Watched seriousness replace joy.
Watched someone who once felt alive begin to tolerate a life that looked “good enough” on paper but felt exhausting in the body.

That’s when it became clear.

This wasn’t about doing more.
It was about unblocking what had been suppressed.
Unlearning what had been normalized.
And finally unleashing a version of life that felt aligned again.

So we did something simple, but intentional.

Pen in hand.
Paper down.

We asked questions most people avoid because the answers change things:

What am I tolerating that’s draining me?
What am I avoiding because it feels uncomfortable?
Where am I still playing small?
What would alignment actually look like not for others, but for me?

No forcing.
No fixing.
Just honesty.

And that honesty created space.

Space for the body to breathe again.
Space for clarity.
Space for laughter to return.
Space for alignment to replace obligation.

That’s the power of this work.

Not chasing a new life, but releasing what no longer belongs so the right one can emerge.

A healthy strawberry sitting next to one that’s rotting doesn’t stay untouched.

Not because it’s weak.
Not because it lacks resilience.
But because proximity matters.

Mold spreads quietly.
It doesn’t announce itself.
It doesn’t ask permission.
It just transfers.

This is how emotional environments work too.

You don’t have to be “doing anything wrong” to be impacted.

You don’t have to be unaware or fragile.
Sometimes you’re simply too close to something that’s slowly draining you.

This is where boundaries stop being about walls and start being about wisdom.

Unblocking begins when you recognize what consistently leaves you feeling heavy, reactive, or off-center even if it’s familiar.

Unlearning happens when you stop telling yourself you can tolerate anything just because you always have.

And unleashing comes when you choose environments that support your nervous system instead of constantly challenging it.

Emotional contagion is real.
Energy transfers.
Patterns spread.

And growth doesn’t thrive in spaces where decay is normalized.

This isn’t about cutting people off.
It’s about choosing what you allow close enough to influence you.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do isn’t to fix the situation it’s to step back and protect what’s still healthy.

This plant was completely brown.
Dry. Wilted. Looked finished.

Honestly, it would’ve made total sense to throw it out.

It looked like it had already decided it was done.

But something in me didn’t.

So instead of giving up on it, I changed how I showed up.

I kept watering it.

Paid attention to what it actually needed not what I assumed it needed.

And yes, I started speaking life into it.

Not in a dramatic, wishful way.
In a steady, intentional way.

I treated it like it wasn’t dead just dormant.

And overnight like magic green started to come back.

That’s when it hit me how often we do this to ourselves.

We label parts of our life as “over” when they’re really just undernourished.

We call something broken when it’s actually asking for a different environment.

This is what unblocking really looks like deciding not to abandon yourself too quickly.

This is unlearning letting go of the belief that once something struggles, it’s done.

And unleashing happens when you stay consistent long enough for life to respond.

Some things don’t need to be replaced.

They need patience.

Attention.

And someone willing to believe there’s still life there.

Same goes for us.

There’s a quieter kind of growth that doesn’t come from striving or pushing.
It comes from noticing.

Noticing what no longer fits.
Noticing what feels heavy instead of expansive.
Noticing the patterns you’ve outgrown — even if they once served you well.

That’s the work of unblocking.
Not forcing change, but creating space.

Then comes unlearning gently loosening your grip on roles, expectations, and ways of being that don’t reflect who you are now.

And eventually, without effort, there’s an unleashing.
Not dramatic.
Not loud.
Just a steadier way of showing up more honest, more aligned, more at ease.

This season isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about allowing yourself to live from what’s already true.

That’s enough for today.
