Se o seu filho está sofrendo bullying na escola, assista a este vídeo. Vou contar como o jiu-jitsu me ajudou a enfrentar esse pesadelo e por que o jiu-jitsu para crianças pode fazer diferença.

What does Kimura mean to a 12-year-old who has been part of our school since she was three?

On our way home from the tournament in Orlando, we asked Mayah and Zyon to write essays like we always do. This time was about Kimura: what our school means to them and why a family should choose us.

This is Mayah’s answer in her own words, after growing up on our mats. If you’re looking for a Jiu-Jitsu school for your child in Boca Raton, West Boca, coconut creek or Parkland, take a moment to hear her story.

Watch the video, then tell us: what matters most to you when choosing a school for your child?

In this video, I share how our school in Watertown Massachusetts began and the story behind that journey.

If you trained with Kimura BJJ USA in Massachusetts, comment below with the year you started and what you remember from those early days. Were you there to witness the journey?

One of the things that makes Kimura USA unique is that we train and develop our own coaches, instructors, and future professors right here at our school every day through our Coaches Program. They start learning at a very young age, and by the time they’re 18, they’re teaching kids better than many black belts out there. JP (João Pedro) | Jiu Jitsu is 14 years old and he is part of our program already for over a year!

After today’s kids’ competition team practice, I had to tell Marcos how proud I am of his progress.

A few months ago, he told me he wanted to join the team. He didn’t come in with a background in other sports or a lot of natural athletic ability. When I said he was joining, some people told me, “Jean, he can’t compete.” I told them, “We’re going to help him get there.”

That’s what our competition team is about. We don’t choose kids because they’re already talented, strong, or experienced in other sports. We look for the desire to work hard and get better.

The first few months were tough, and some people thought Marcos would quit. But from the beginning, I believed he could become one of our best competitors. I knew it would take time, and there was no rush.

Today, I told him he’s made one of the biggest improvements on our team over the past four or five months. His progress has been unbelievable not just technically, but mentally too.

Today was about sharpening the kids’ game before they compete at Pan Am No-Gi this weekend. We worked through at least 10 combinations from our curriculum, and then I asked them questions to see what they remembered.

In this video, I show one way to take the back from De La Riva guard by controlling the legs without grabbing the belt or the gi.
