Great training last night!

This is how we turn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques into instinct.

After spending three to four weeks studying half guard, we bring the entire BJJ sequence together through active drilling. Both athletes can use the half guard positions we have been working on while adding movement, timing, resistance and real reactions.

Vitinho and Tiago started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with us as kids and white belts. Today, they are Kimura BJJ coaches and great examples of the athletes and leaders our kids’ martial arts program develops in Boca Raton.

This is not simply repeating techniques. This is learning how to connect positions and use them against a resisting opponent.

When the sweep gets blocked, the back is right there.

In this Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu technique, I start from full half guard and transition to waiter guard. When my opponent defends the waiter sweep, I move to X-guard and attack the “take the trash out” sweep.

As he blocks the sweep and comes back, I use his reaction to reach the turtle position, secure my hook, take the back, and finish with the choke.

The key is not forcing the first technique. Use your opponent’s reaction to create the next opportunity.

Save this BJJ sequence and try it during your next training session.

40 kids on the mat today. Two black belts teaching, Professor Diego and myself, plus four coaches and two helpers. Eight people working together to make sure every child was safe, learning, and having fun from beginning to end.

Today we worked on our warm up on breakfalls, one of the most important foundations in our curriculum. Before kids learn how to take someone down, they need to learn how to fall properly and protect themselves.

The entire class was organized and under control. Everyone listened, trained hard, learned, and had fun. That is what experience, structure, and a proven methodology look like.

One of my biggest dreams was to have my entire family training jiu-jitsu together.

I always wanted to build a school where I could bring my wife and my kids. A place where they would feel safe, feel at home and enjoy everything that jiu-jitsu has to offer.

Today, being able to roll with my son, my daughter and my wife on the same mats is priceless.

It’s more than just training. It’s quality time together and a lifestyle that we share as a family.

Jiu-jitsu has always been a big part of my life, and now it’s part of my family’s life too. For me, that is one of my greatest accomplishments. ❤️🥋

35 kids on the mat, two black belts, 6 trained coaches and helpers. One organized class.

Yesterday, our kids practiced the sprawl, one of the foundations of our program. With so many children watching UFC today, they need to understand how to protect themselves when someone tries to grab their legs and take them down.

Sometimes parents see a packed class and worry that there are too many kids. But our classes are full because families trust our work and our system delivers results.

A small class does not automatically mean more attention. What matters is the methodology, experience, organization, and number of trained people on the mat. When we ask 35 kids to sit, they sit. When it’s time for water, they line up. Every child is supervised and learning high-level Jiu-Jitsu in a safe and controlled environment.

More than 30 years of teaching experience. A proven system. A team trained by us.

Our classes are full because what we do works.

9:00 AM class. One of the biggest mistakes white belts make is accepting the guard pass too early.

This morning, I showed our white belts how to retain the guard from knee half guard, then sit up, secure the underhook, and recover closed guard step by step.
