Our view of pain & activity across our lifespan is warped! Getting older doesn’t mean things you used to love should be off limits or unattainable. BECAUSE we’re older, we have ADVANTAGES: more money, more time (hello fellow ) & wisdom!!
This is NOT 1980-something. Exercise has evolved much like our cars, televisions, & how we communicate! Science proves our bodies are resilient & can adapt at any age!
Imagine how fit and healthy you can become & STAY in the next few decades! Way better than the alternative, isn’t it?

So many low hanging fruits for overall health! We spend little time with our arms overhead in the 21st Century. This isn’t the way we were designed to be! SO…. one of the low hanging fruits to “undo” the “under-movement” of our arms is hanging!
If you’re not able to do that right now, find a doorway & spend some time with your arms overhead there a few times daily! It works wonders for & a lot of discomfort we have in our bodies.
REMINDER: we didn’t get tight & weak overnight. This is decades of cumulative under movement of our moving parts! Start slow & rebuild what you have!

FEELING FREEDOM
I’ve been in that place where my body lacked physical freedom.
After 2015 back surgery I was bound with restrictions.
No lifting,
No bending,
No twisting.
I didn’t feel free.
Not of pain,
Not to move,
Not from doubt.
But I was free.
To decide relearn how to move,
To research what worked,
To educate myself,
To explore.
And slowly, I set myself free.
This week, I’m grateful to flex my “freedom muscles” taking time to move.
I enjoyed freedom of space,
I enjoyed freedom of time,
I enjoyed freedom of moving my body.
I’m grateful to have access to places where I can express freedom of movement but mostly for the ability to do things I didn’t think physically possible.

Deflate a Pilates ball & place it behind your low back! It can be adjusted as needed for maximum relief!

Plan on this summer, but your hips & knees sometimes talk to you (especially on the descent)?
Here’s a simple move to add into your routine to strengthen the lateral part of you hips, pelvis & butt!
WHY? Strengthening this area helps take some of the work away from your knees & back because it helps make your hips & pelvis stronger so they can do some of the grunt work.
Give it a try & let me know how you do! Use a yoga block, book or any solid surface to elevate the working leg just enough to allow space to lower (decelerate) the non working leg.
Remember to keep the elevated leg straight (no knee bend) & keep it slow 🐢 both on the drop & when you level up the feet!
CUES:
👀eyes on the horizon
🔦shine imaginary lights straight ahead from the front of hip bones
🫄belly button faces forward
👣put a footprint hole in the block/surface to bring non-working leg level with working leg
