Meg’s Swim School

I’m thinking of hosting a baby and toddler water safety/survival swim clinic at Meg’s Swim School one or two evenings next week and wanted to gauge interest! Parents/caregivers would leave feeling empowered, confident, and equipped with practical skills they can safely practice on their own. Let me know if this is something that interests you!

It would end with some free swim time and guided practice.

Summer swim lessons are still going strong! It’s been amazing to watch our students progress, with many now swimming independently and showing fantastic stroke development.

I still have a few openings available for the first two weeks of August. If you'd like to grab some classes, let me know!

I wanted to share this video and the importance of ALL kids knowing how to self rescue while swimming. Exhaustion and panic can set in fast, and in my swim lessons I ALWAYS reiterate that even the strongest swimmers can ALWAYS float on their backs when needed.



TEACH AND PRACTICE FLOATING WITH YOUR KIDS! Sometimes boys or children with lower body fat have a hard time floating and might need to kick to keep their lower body afloat. Practice getting into a floating position from a vertical position, no matter how good of swimmers they are. Our family rule is if I can’t see the bottom of the water, every kid wears a life jacket, NO MATTER WHAT.

These are on sale and I love the strap that’s gentle on hair! I also love that they don’t cover the nose, as goggles that do can become a crutch!

Swimming independently is obviously preferable, but I understand that in many cases a life jacket is either required (lakes, certain water parks) or the safest choice (pool parties, the ocean). I love a speedo life jacket that has the tank top style straps! Amazon has many options. Take the life jacket off whenever possible, but please don’t feel guilty for using one when necessary! They’re a great tool for a safe summer!
