Get to Know Your Coach: Jacob Flanagan | 16 National Assistant Coach

Coach Jacob Flanagan may be entering his first season coaching club volleyball, but he brings plenty of experience on the court to Idaho Strike!

Jacob played club volleyball for seven years and continued competing through high school, junior college, and collegiate club volleyball. He has also worked volleyball camps and is excited to bring what he’s learned throughout his playing career to the 16 National team.

One of Jacob’s favorite parts of coaching is continuing to learn more about the game himself while building relationships with his athletes. His advice to players reflects that growth-focused mindset: Try not to focus on the result. Instead, focus on the work, improvement, and opportunities to get better along the way.

Off the court, Jacob loves movies, has two siblings, and says that if he weren’t coaching volleyball, you’d probably still find him in school.

We’re excited to have Coach Jacob on the 16 National staff and can’t wait to see what this season brings!

As our season gets going, we want to give a HUGE shoutout to the person who keeps so much of it running behind the scenes! 💜

From social media and marketing to parent communications, travel coordination, and everything in between, we truly would not be where we are without Shelby! Her hard work, creativity, and attention to detail bring so much to our administrative team, and her bubbly, fun personality makes everything a little more enjoyable along the way.

There are countless details that go into making a season happen, and Shelby is the one making sure so many of them don’t fall through the cracks. We are so lucky to have her helping bring our club to life both on and off the court!

Thank you, Shelby, for everything you do! 💜⚡

The Idaho Strike crew traded the court for the stands earlier this week and headed out to watch BSU take on BYU! It was an awesome night of spending time together, supporting Boise State, and getting to watch some high-level volleyball right here in the Treasure Valley.

There’s something pretty cool about experiencing the game together outside of practices and tournaments. We had a blast cheering on the Broncos and hanging out as a club before our own season gets underway!

Thanks for a great night, Idaho Strike! And GO BRONCOS!
