What a way to end your 16th year of your life! Landon Heald stepped in against his first adult in competition. This was a different Landon that graced the cage in this fight. He was a lot calmer and more methodical. He was edged out in rounds 1 and 2 but in round 3 a new monster emerged. He brought the house down! He threw with precision and power that he had never shown before. He worked the body like a pro and hurt his opponent. After hurting his opponent he hunted for the finish but the 2 minute rounds didn’t leave him enough time to get the job done. His opponent showed toughness to survive. He will grow from this performance watch out for his next fight! Happy Birthday!

I can’t say enough how proud we are of Isaac Pool. When he booked this fight we was 235 lbs. through 3 months of working hard and running daily he lost 50 pounds. He went out and put on a show. He won rounds 1 and 2 in dominate fashion. That wasn’t good enough for him though. Round 3 he still carried that killer instinct and finished with a TKO. He threw at a very high volume the entire fight and at the end wasn’t even winded!

Nathan is all heart! He may not have gotten the results that he was looking for this fight but we are proud of this guy! He took on a very tough and game opponent. To me what he did this weekend was bigger than just fighting. He used his platform to profess his faith in Jesus Christ. That’s a big step for anyone. Fighting gives you a platform in front of a thousand people and he used his to glorify God. There is never a loss in that.

Chris came to fight! Full of grit he put on a show for the fans. He worked to get past the range of his taller opponent. He got a knock down in the first round to secure round 1. In the 2nd round he left nothing to chance dropping his opponent 2 more times to secure the TKO victory!

To say this event will be epic will be an understatement! We are traveling to Chattanooga TN next weekend with one thing on our minds and that is victory. The work has been done and the next couple weeks will be making sure all of our tools are sharp. If you want to see how we prepare don’t be afraid to stop by and watch or join us. Why We Became an Academy

Almost seven years ago, Ludus Magnus opened its doors as a gym — a place to train, sweat, and learn the basics of combat sports. But over time, something bigger began to take shape. Our students weren’t just showing up for workouts. They were committing to a path. They were growing through discipline, structure, and mentorship. They were becoming martial artists.

As our culture evolved, so did our responsibility.

We built a curriculum.
We developed rank standards.
We created a team identity rooted in respect, accountability, and purpose.
We became a place where kids learn confidence, and adults find direction.

At some point, we stopped being “just a gym.”
We became an academy — long before we ever changed the name.

Rebranding to Ludus Magnus Academy of Mixed Martial Arts is not a marketing move. It’s an acknowledgment of what our students, coaches, and community have already built together. An academy represents structure, lineage, and long‑term development. It reflects the standards we hold ourselves to and the expectations we set for everyone who wears our crest.

This change honors our roots while raising the bar for the future.
Our mission is simple: to develop disciplined, capable, confident martial artists who carry these values into every part of their lives.
