Mikey lost his last match as a senior at the state tournament and fell short of placing. It hurts, but I’m proud of his fight and his character. This doesn’t change who he is or what he’s built—just the ending of one chapter.

RECAP: Tough loss last night vs Mitchell HS, but we had some hard fought matches including Charlotte Rosenbaum, who remains undefeated at 6-0.

This past weekend we had our Classic Pioneer Day, wrestling Forbush and winning 41-40. We also celebrated our wrestling alum from Appalachian High School and Watauga High School and notably honored Coaches Steve Britenstein and Lee Stroupe for their contributions to the Watauga Wrestling community.

Our next event will be the Grayhound Classic this Saturday at Statesville HS, then the Tiger Classic in Chapel Hill on Monday.

Proud of the team as we traveled to the James Short North Knight Invitational Tournament. Congrats to Charlotte Rosenbaum going undefeated for the day, and Beattie and Justice Hendley placing 6th!

Great job as Watauga traveled to the Danny Linker Memorial Tournament at Allegheny High School. We placed 8th as a team and took home three medalists. Congrats to Charlotte Rosenbaum & Dalton Carlton taking home first and Mikey Portante taking second
