Hi Everyone,.
Hustle and West Coast Swing classes are starting this week.
This Thursday night, September 10th at 7:00p we are starting another 6-week series working on Hustle. We will focus on what makes Hustle calm and doable. Start learning hustle or make your hustle better.
This Saturday morning, September 12th, We begin again our 6-week series of Fundamental WCS classes at 10:00a and our Intermediate/Advanced WCS classes at 11:30a.
Our pricing is as follows. The cost for any 6-week series of classes is $100 per person. If you take any 2 6-week series of classes the cost is $150 giving you the second series at half price. If you take all 3 6-week series of classes the cost is $200 giving you one free 6-week series of classes. The drop in cost for any single class is $20.
All of our events and classes are held at the St. Peter's Episcopal church hall located at 215 Boulevard in Mountain Lakes NJ.

Hi everyone;
About our West Coast Swing fundamentals!.
Advanced dancers in any style of dance will tell you that how far you go in developing your dancing will depend on how strong your fundamentals are developed in that dance style. This is especially true for West Coast Swing. When you consider that the Fundamental movements for WCS consist of at least 6 basic patterns with 2 basic rhythms each with a different foot pattern you can start to understand that this dance is complicated. When you add to the fact that West Coast Swing is not a dance which relies on remembering patterns but a dance which is driven by stretch and connection skills, the fundamental dance and connection skills become that much more important.
RIS has had an ongoing Fundamentals program since 2002 and consider this class to be the most important class you can take.
These classes are both for new students and dancers who already dance WCS and want to stay on a clear path for improving their WCS dancing.
The Fundamental WCS classes are currently held on Saturday mornings from 10:00a until 11:00a with 30 minutes after.
We are planning on expanding our fundamental program to encompass a greater number of fun and interesting movements to make the fundamentals more interesting and enjoyable.
We are beginning our next 6 week Fundamentals series on September 12th.
The cost for a single 6-week session of classes is $100 per person. Pre registration is optional but always helpful.
If you combine any two classes the cost is $150 per person giving you the second class for 1/2 price. If you combine any 3 classes the cost is $200 giving you a class for FREE The cost of a single class(drop in) is $20.
All classes are held in the St. Peter's church hall located at 215 Boulevard in Mountain Lakes NJ.

WCS and Hustle classes starting soon;
Hi Everyone,
Here is what is going on at RIS.
First, Thanks again for the great response to my email which asked you for the dances you would like for us to teach. The overwhelming dance you asked for was Hustle - followed by Salsa then S**g(we will get to these at a later date).!
So, we are changing our schedule a bit to add the Hustle in. We will be starting a 6 week Hustle series on Thursday night, July 23rd at 7:00p. The WCS material which we are learning in the current Thursday class which ends this Thursday July 16th, will be incorporated into the Saturday Intermediate advanced WCS classes since most all the students in the Thursday class also take the Saturday class.
The Saturday schedule which will begin again on July 25th will remain the same including the practice session.
All of our events and classes are held at the St. Peter's Episcopal church hall located at 215 Boulevard in Mountain Lakes NJ.

This is a 6 week series where we will be teaching some of the more interesting movements that are currently being danced on the social floor. If you are interested in One Foot Spins, Ducks, Leans, Dips and more Footwork & Styling then you will really enjoy this class. This class will be open to anyone. I do recommend that your WCS foundation be sound.
You can take any one class or the whole series. The cost is $20 per class or $100 for the entire series on the first day of class giving you a free class.
All of our events and classes are held at the St. Peter's Episcopal church hall located at 215 Boulevard in Mountain Lakes NJ.

Exciting stuff - please read until the end!
Hi everyone,
Begin or continue your WCS journey this Saturday morning, Jun 6th, for the start of our next 6 week series of Fundamental and Intermediate/Advanced WCS classes. Rhythm in Shoes has been developing successful WCS dancers ongoing since 2002!
Our Fundamental WCS classes are from 10:00a until 11:00a and build or reinforces the foundation for good solid WCS dancing. This class is both for beginners and dancers who already know WCS and want to continually improve their WCS dancing. Intermediate and advanced dancers would find this information surprisingly informative and helpful. We consider this class to be the most important class that you should take.
"Average dancers think practicing fundamentals is what beginners do - Great dancers know practicing fundamentals is what champions do".

From 11:00a until 11:30a there is a combined practice session.

From 11:30a until 12:30p we have our Intermediate/Advanced WCS. In this class we develop a philosophy where the leaders have a choice of endings to the patterns and the followers have more choices for different syncopations and additions to the choreography for better musicality.(to enjoy this class your WCS dancing should be solid).
NOTE ===> On Thursday June 11th at 7:00p we are beginning a "More Advanced patterns and movement" 6 week series where we will be teaching some of the more interesting movements that are currently being danced on the social floor. If you are interested in One Foot Spins, Ducks, Leans, Dips and more Footwork & Styling then you will really enjoy this class. This class will be open to anyone although I do recommend that your WCS foundation be sound.
The cost for our classes is as follows;
