Last week a few of us (Kathleen, Angie, Matt, a few of our Moberly friends and a handful of our board members) had the opportunity to experience the YMCA's 2026 General Assembly. It included three days dedicated to remembering why we are here for our community. With amazing guest speakers and group sessions delivering impactful messages on how we connect, elevate, create and support our community members, the trip was an uplifting way to commemorate the Ys 175th year in the United States.
How cool that Cullen Jones, a two time Olympic Gold Medalist, went from nearly drowning at age 5, to taking swim lessons at the YMCA and now not only a gold medalist but also a fabulous inspirational speaker. Think about the fact we have 40 swim team members at our Boonville YMCA. Maybe a future Olympian????
Of course, no large Y gathering is complete without the song. Regardless of who you are, you have likely heard the song BUT have you ever really listened to the following lyrics...
