Snack & Run? - FEEN - female endurance 12/03/2023

Pre-workout cookies! My favorite - and vegan - recipe to hit the road or trail well prepared because running is so much more fun if you don't head out with an empty stomach!

Snack & Run? - FEEN - female endurance Do you eat before training? I used to run in the early morning after having no more than a sip of black coffee and never felt great. The same happened when i choose to run during lunch time. After being tied up all morning in meetings I just wanted to change quickly and hit the […]

A perfect day to hit the track for “running abc”. I’m a big fan of drill exercises because they are short and entertaining, especially as a group! The pic shows me practicing “high knee skips” - used to do this as a kid all the time without knowing 😂. What’s your favorite?

I used to feel “invincible”... - FEEN - female endurance 08/04/2022

Check out our latest blog post about starting running anew after a longer break! Sharing this because many of us struggle to get back in to exercise and make similar experiences to who want to start running for the very first time.
Stay tuned on this mini-series!

I used to feel “invincible”... - FEEN - female endurance I used to feel “invincible” because I was almost never sick or injured. Every once in a while I had a cold. Running related injuries were limited to a blister every once in a while. When I increased distance and I felt my muscles or joints were a little challenged I made generous use of […]

Launching a new series of running insights: I wish I knew that - when I started running.
What advice would you like to share?

I wish I knew that - when I started running!
Today sharing why slow but steady wins: the hare.

Right know my mind is wondering how it will be to start running again once recovered from my - not running related - injury. Day by day my anxiety increases that it might be as difficult as it was to start running at all when I was in my mid-thirties and went to run outdoors for the very first time.

Feeling more and more like everyone else starting to run for the very first time - or after a long break - I developed my very personal list of things that I wished I knew when I started running:

Slow but steady wins! What is true for the tortoise in the fable "The Tortoise and the Hare" is true for me as well when you start running: consistent, effective effort leads to success! Rather start running slow but steadily because that's the best way to allow for experiencing progress that makes you feel at ease and getting stronger. I specifically advise to start with short runs at a comfortable pace. And this is exactly how I plan to resume running: starting with running from one street lamp to the next (that's usually in between 30-50m or 100-150ft) at a pace that allows chatting with one another or singing along if you listen to music. Then walk with an energetic, powerful attitude until your arrive at the next light pole. Repeat for a couple of times and turn around way ahead of being close to feeling exhausted.

A great advice was given to me by a friend this week: make sure you rather choose a shorter route in your neighborhood and repeat the loop than going far and finding yourself away from home when you have to stop because you are tired. This is very true especially at this time of the year when you would risk getting cold once you stop running.

The hare - cute but with limited endurance capabilities :)

Very inspiring how technology might enable bling runners to run free without a guide soon!

Running Blind, and Running Free A blind runner issued a challenge to technologists last year to find a way for him to run safely without a guide. They did.

I so much love running in these late autumn days - the crisp air, the rustling of leaves and the beautiful coloring in gold, orange, and all shades of red.

"A magic dwells in each beginning" therefore we launch FEEN - our worldwide female endurance network - just today, on the 1st Sunday of Advent. We, Hannah and Tina, are enthusiastic endurance athletes. We want to reach out to women, who like us appreciate the special atmosphere, which is unique for female training groups. We want to create a community where women support each other, find friends, training partners, and plenty of inspiration for an active lifestyle.

We welcome all of you that want to join our global community no matter where they are, for example as members in our local running groups, as a running pair (COVID-compliant), or simply virtually connect and train with us.

You can already learn more about us on our homepage (https://www.female-endurance.com/). In the next days, weeks and months we will surprise you with a lot more here and on our social media accounts. Please contact us if you have any questions, if you are interested in joining us or in starting your own running group/training group.
We are looking forward to getting in touch!
