Lindy Hopcats

Last year, Lindy Hopcats met to discuss who we might bring to Boston for a workshop in 2026, and we were excited about Erin Morris. We mentioned the idea to some friends and found out that Eclipse Fusion Boston had dreams of bringing Erin here to teach. Through this collaboration, we’re realizing this dream in two weeks!

While classes for our Connect the Dots workshop will be in Belmont, our Saturday night social dance venue will be the Cambridge Friends School. Keep a lookout for more information on parking and directions for entry as we get closer to 9/19.

For the Connect the Dots workshop with Erin Morris next month (see the link in our bio), we’ll be using a new-to-us venue for all classes, the Odd Fellows Hall. This venue is regularly used by Free Wednesday Swing, so we expect it to be a great environment for our classes.

What is Slow Balboa, and why do so many people want to learn this style of dance? Come to practice on Sunday for a taste of Slow Bal with instructor and practice coach Ruth Evelyn! As always, feel free to work on whatever you like during open practice time.

Did you know that once a month, we’ve been sharing our practice space with a group of Collegiate S**g enthusiasts? If you’re curious about this style, you can join for any session because they welcome beginners. If you need more motivation, this coming Sunday, we’re inviting Andrew and Andrea Byrnes to teach an introduction and then do some practice coaching. 📷: Jerry Almonte

Last year, we did Taster Month, where we did “taster” classes for different dance styles. It was very popular, and we’re bringing it back in August! If you want to practice Lindy during open practice time, you can still do that, but if you want to try a different style, mark those dates. Also, we’re planning to do a brunch-time social dance instead of practice on August 9th!

Next week Sunday, we’re inviting to be a practice coach during open practice! To start off practice, will share some games that she learned at Lindy Focus last year with and .t.savage. Don’t forget, our start time is 1 PM. Feel free to remind Cheryl next week so she remembers to open the doors on-time. 😂

Wind and rain are forecasted for Saturday, so we are moving to Plan B (aka “Plan Bebop”, thanks John). Our Saturday hang will be at The Bebop bar in Boston ( 1116 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02215), where you can find Django jazz on most Saturdays from noon to 3 PM. Bring your dance shoes and floorcraft. (There’s not exactly a dance floor, but there are food and drinks.)
