Anatomy of a Fail: Why did the Monkey Ballers crash at Flugtag Challenge?

They designed a craft to glide 100 yards (after dressing up in banana costumes and doing a silly dance). What could go wrong? William Thalheimer an...

Hey Monkey Baller Nation!
If you need a reminder about the schedule, here it is!
Game day schedule is out!
________________
Friday August 19th:
10:00am - Monkey Ballers check in to their pit area by the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade
10:30am - 6:00pm - We'll be assembling our craft, selling t-shirts, taking pictures and kissing babies, join us for the fun!
________________
Saturday August 20th - GAME DAY!
11:00am - Gates open! (Its *highly* suggested you get to the Hatch Shell *before* 11! Expected crowd is near 100,00 people and you want to make sure you get a good spot by the water to see the show. If you can bike or take public transportation it will likely be far easier than driving/taxi)
11:00am - noon - Come hang out with us by our booth and make sure you get a t-shirt so everyone in Monkey Baller Nation is in yellow!
Noon - Opening ceremonies
12:25pm (T=0) - First flight
appx. 12:50pm - Monkey Ballers fly!!! (We are 7th in the lineup so this time is obviously plus or minus 15 minutes.)
T=7.5 seconds - We go 200ft and win the competition! Partying and celebration ensues...
3:45pm - Awards at the Hatch Shell
8:30pm - Afterparty at Ned Devines!
________________
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the festivities. If you want more info (or a t-shirt) contact a team member or just respond to this post!

Icarus takes flight as wing tip chasers Alex Feldstein and Mike Tomovich run in pursuit
08/12/2016
She's finished!!! Behold ICARUS in all her glory!!!
We will be flight testing tomorrow at the Collings Foundation Grass Airstrip at 137 Barton Rd., Stow, MA from 8am to 2pm. Testing will involve hooking the plane up behind a car and towing it down the field at 20mph!
We are super excited to announce that we have enlisted the help of former USAF pilot and chief test pilot at Terrafugia, Phil Meeter! Phil will be lending his vast body of expertise to our testing and will be the first to get Icarus airborne! Then our competition pilot, Alex Feldstein, will take over the controls.
We will definitely welcome spectators at our test day, but if you would like to come, please reply below or contact a team member so we have a head count. The Collings Foundation has been very gracious in letting us use their private airstrip and we do not want to overly impose on them. Also, please know that we will be focused on test so will not be making small talk with spectators until after we have finished testing. Thanks for understanding.
That being said we hope to see some members of Monkey Baller nation at Collings tomorrow as we take flight!
We'll be posting pictures on our instagram over the course of the day and will release a video soon after.
