Dispelling Common Myths About Women and Weightlifting: Unraveling misconceptions surrounding women who lift weights:

1) Contrary to the myth, women don’t need to be super fit to begin weightlifting. It’s a versatile activity suitable for all fitness levels, offering benefits for beginners as well as experienced individuals.

2) Contrary to the myth, weightlifting is beneficial and safe for older women, supporting bone density and overall well-being.

3) Myth debunked: Women are not at a higher risk of injury while lifting weights, especially with proper form and guidance. Weight training can be safe and beneficial.

4) Myth: Women won’t look like men by lifting weights. Weight training enhances muscle tone without compromising femininity. Building muscle can help accentuate curves.

5) Contrary to the myth: Women don’t need only cardio; strength training is crucial too. Incorporating weightlifting enhances overall fitness, contributes to weight management, and offers unique health benefits beyond what cardio alone can provide.

6) Women don’t only need light weights. Incorporating heavier weights into training is beneficial for building strength and achieving fitness goals. Tailoring weight selection to individual capacity is key, dispelling the notion that light weights are the sole requirement for women.

7) Myth dispelled: Women don’t need to work on their glutes every day. Adequate rest and varied workouts contribute to overall muscle health. Overemphasizing daily glute workouts is unnecessary and may hinder optimal results.

Please remember these! Drop a comment if you appreciate this and it changed your perspective.

🚼Planks may not be your favorite exercise but here’s some simple hacks that can get you through it💡

1️⃣ Fix Your Form. Most of the time I see people performing their planks wrong. Putting too much stress in the arms or lower back. It could be working against you.

2️⃣Listen to music. Music can be a great way to distract yourself from a timed set of planks.

3️⃣Hold a conversation. If you’re a chatterbox, or can hold a great conversation This may be the hack for you to get through a plank. Get your mind off of what you’re currently doing by talking to somebody and hold an interesting conversation.

4️⃣Modifaction, Modification, Modification. They can be your best friends by lowering the difficulty. Some typical modifications are tall planks, bent knee planks, and elevated planks.

5️⃣ Don’t set the timer too high! Properly build up your endurance by shortening the time an increase time by the week. My recommendation is at five seconds per week.

If planks 🚼are a pain point for you, try these hacks out and let me know what you think 👨🏾‍💻✍🏽

The Weight Scale
____________________
You know that device that spits out a number once you step on it. You sit there keeping still hoping the number you see is the number you’re wishing for.
____________________
Time and time again people distract their focus because of a number they are not fond of. Whether if the scaled budged up or down, by a little or a lot, people let the number on the scale derail them.
____________________
This message to you guys and even my clients, yes be aware of your weight, but DONT let the scale throw you off your road to success. If you have been hitting the gym consistently do not stop because you gained 3lbs. Think about what exercise has done for you. Do you feel stronger? Are you less out of breath walking down the street or up a flight of stairs? Can you help your parents or friends move furniture? Do you have more energy? Are you surprisingly fitting more clothes than what you expected? Sometimes the number on the scale DOES NOT reflect how your body is on the inside and very much so on the outside too. Weight can stay the same but composition can definitely change. Muscle is more dense than fat. So remember this while you’re in the gym, your weight does not always reflect your health, you could be gaining muscle/burning off visible fat and not even know it because you let the scale dictate if you’re reaching your goals. Stay focused, nothing is overnight! Much love, OJ✊🏾

Breaks from your daily hustle and flow are needed. Trips like this always reminds me that work and making a living is apart of the system we live in, but don’t miss out on the beauty and fun.

Take that big long vacation. Take a hiatus if you need it. Your health and happiness needs it.

I look forward to coming back feeling refreshed, happy, and ready to give my clients 100% once again. 💪🏾 Hopefully I can bring back some Sun to Boston as well☀️🙏🏾😂
