Meet AJ Maio (dancer) and Vineeta Kapoor (visual artist), both performing at The Breath of Music.

AJ on collaboration: "I collaborate with other artists to learn from their experiences and share my own. Together we can create something deeper and more meaningful and share with a wider audience."

Vineeta on collaboration: What excites me most about this exhibition is the opportunity to step outside my own artistic language and collaborate with artists working in an entirely different medium. Dance is movement, rhythm, music, and fleeting expression; drawing is stillness, observation, and response. When I draw dancers live, I have to let go of control and trust my instincts—to respond to movement as it happens. There is both challenge and joy in that exchange. I am not simply drawing the dancers; I am responding to their art with my own. In that moment, dance and drawing become a conversation between two creative languages.

This fall, we begin a new cohort of Absolute Beginner pointe for first-time adult learners! Pointe work can be an exhilarating, challenging and satisfying experience for dedicated adult learners, and we love teaching it within our comprehensive beginners program.

Alexandros Kyriakopoulos - creator, pianist, and the soul of The Breath of Music. Bringing classical concert piano to Northeast Arts for the second time this year, Alexandros's music fills the theater with technical prowess and the passion that guides the dancers and choreographers.

Mr. Kyriakopoulos has performed "internationally at festivals and venues across Europe, the United States, Australia, and Latin America — from Italy’s Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, to Spain’s Gijon Festival, to recitals in Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and Greece. These experiences have given [him] the chance to share music with diverse audiences and to collaborate with remarkable artists, chamber musicians, and ballet companies."

On collaboration: "If there is one message I want readers, students, and audiences to carry with them, it is that music is never just notes. It is imagination, human connection, and transformation. That conviction is the core of my artistry, my teaching, and my brand. The mission is simple: to innovate, feel and live though music."

Northeast Arts is closed Tuesday to Sunday this week for some much needed recovery and family time. We hope you get some rest and recharge for the upcoming season as well.
