Oslo is the city where I studied, met my husband, got married, and eventually left to go to the United States, 24 years ago. These days I go there to visit my niece who lives in the neighboorhood next to the one in which I lived, and who shows me all the new and interesting things that have been built in the city since I left (the new library was especially impressive). As I walked through Studenterlunden park and looked towards Christiania Teater (now a hotel), I felt an urge to draw exactly that view, and went to Christ. Engebretsen & Søn, the art supply store in Pilestredet, to buy Micron pens and a bristol board pad.

American Fiction is nominated for 5 Oscars including Best Picture. Very happy to see that the board I painted for the children’s section at the Brookline Booksmith appears as a prop in the background! The movie was filmed all over Brookline and the Boston area.

Another Marius sweater design. This one worn by a Humboldt penguin. Where he got it from is a mystery, because these penguins come from South America. But they live in cold waters, so they need to stay warm. The drawing was commissioned by my mom as a birthday gift to her youngest grandchild (11), who happens to love Humboldt penguins.
