Where Tradition Lives... The Wah Lum Athletic Association is one of the oldest full-time kung fu schools operating in Boston's Chinatown.

It's main goal is to promote the study of the Chinese Martial Arts and for the development of physical, mental, and general well-being of students. Training includes kung fu exercises, hand forms, weapons forms, self-defense applications, sparring, as well as the philosophical aspects of Wah Lum Kung Fu. Students are taught at the rate of their own abilities, and in this respect, a high standard is maintained.

It is with the utmost fondness and reverence that we celebrate Great-Grandmaster Pui Chan as he retires as the active headmaster of the Wah Lum System. At the same time, we proudly express our steadfast support for the succession of Grandmaster Mimi Chan as she continues to devote her life to the teachings and tenets of Wah Lum Kung Fu. Congratulations, Sigung Mimi Chan!

We proudly announce the new Headmaster ζŽŒι–€ of the Wah Lum System: Grandmaster Mimi Chan.

On July 19, 2026, the Wah Lum Tam Tui Northern Praying Mantis System θ―ζž—ζŽ’θ…Ώθž³θž‚ι–€ witnessed a momentous and deeply moving milestone: the official Grandmaster Succession Ceremony.

For over 56 years, our system has flourished worldwide thanks to the extraordinary dedication and vision of Grandmaster Pui Chan. Today, after a lifetime of foundational work, Grandmaster Pui Chan officially passes the torch, stepping into a well-earned retirement and taking on the esteemed title of Great-Grand Master Pui Chan, Sijo Gung (holding Emeritus status).

Grandmaster Mimi Chan now steps forward to continue the Wah Lum tradition, ensuring that the System's light, wisdom, and legacy burn brightly for the future.

We invite the entire martial arts community to join us in honoring Great-Grand Master Pui Chan and offering their unwavering support to our new Grandmaster, Mimi Chan, as she leads us into this exciting new era!
