Standing Bow Pulling Pose (Dandayamana Dhanurasana)
Standing Bow Pulling Pose is one of the ultimate tests of balance, blending strength on one side with flexibility on the other, working together in perfect harmony.
This is one of the rare postures in yoga that is both a deep backbend and a spinal twist. As you hold it, blood flushes from one side of your body to the other, delivering fresh oxygen and nutrients to your muscles and giving your nervous system an energizing reset.
It is a posture that demands your full attention. Every second, you are balancing, kicking, reaching, and breathing, holding your focus as your body works from the standing leg all the way through the tips of your fingers.
Physically, it strengthens the legs, glutes, and core, opens the chest, shoulders, and hip flexors, and helps release stubborn tension in the upper back and neck. Mentally, it trains concentration, patience, and determination, skills you will carry far beyond the mat.
It is challenging, it is energizing, and it is one of those postures that teaches you something new about yourself every time you practice it. We break it down and work on it regularly at Instrumental Yoga in

Standing Separate Leg Stretching Pose
(Dandayamana Bibhaktapada Paschimottanasana)
This powerful forward fold works the entire body, from your head to toes.
Why we practice it:
โข Stretches the hamstrings, calves, and hips
โข Strengthens thighs & biceps
โข Releases tension in the lower back
โข Decompresses the spine
โข Improves digestion through abdominal engagement
โข Stimulates blood flow to the brain increasing clarity, calm, and focus
Itโs not about touching your forehead to the floor today, itโs about moving in the right direction with control, grounding through your feet, and creating space in the body. Balance between relaxation with strength is key.
Steady. Focused. Intentional.

Camel Pose (Ustrasana)
Backbending is one of the most vital practices in Hatha Yoga. Children do it naturally, but as adults, we often lose that essential range of motion.
Camel Pose helps restore that flexibility. It creates space between vertebrae, relieving pressure on the spinal disks and stimulating the nerve roots along the spine.
Practiced regularly, this posture supports healthy mobility in every spinal joint and is instrumental to long-term spinal health and vitality.
Come explore the benefits of Ustrasana with us in class this week.
