Gotta love it when one of the kids brings sensei a gift

While being on the mat is way better than not being there, being there and mindfully engaged is exponentially better than just going through the motions
Always challenge how you can improve

Remember that attendance does not equal expertise.
Nor does it qualify solely for the “next test promotion”.

Attendance does not necessarily equal engagement.

The quality of our attention, curiosity and desire is more in tuned with actual engagement.
If we do technique by rote with no mindful awareness or intention to refine and improve, then our techniques will always look the same and remain the same.
Remember that when we decide we already ‘know’ a technique the learning will essentially stop.
