This evolving and creative practice utilizes and integrates elements from the disciplines of Authentic Movement, Developmental Movement, and Pilates. It is an approach to uncovering "core strength" that includes the whole person, body, mind, and spirit. The guiding principle at Move To Center is that if allowed, the body will often organize toward healthier postural and movement patterns. By strengthening awareness, individuals become conscious of previously habitualized postural and movement patterns. Individuals will re-pattern outdated behavioral habits by becoming aware of the resources of support through gravity, the ground reaction force (gravity's natural uplift), and breath. All are necessary tools to bring individuals more into the present moment with authenticity and clarity. Using necessary images, movements, and exercises, individuals connect to, unwind into, and strengthen their inherent core support. In order for lasting change to imprint into the nervous system, any system of body and movement re-education must occur in the field of collaborative awareness between practitioner and client, putting awareness first of what is actually happening. The timing of this discovery needs to be integrated at a pace where the nervous system can metabolize the change in order for a more sustainable change to occur. Finding a sense of core support by working with optimizing posture and movement will have lasting effects on the overall balance and health of an individuals body and will be a valuable tool in centering the mind, giving an individual a clearer and more resourced connection with life.
