2nd Annual Sharon "Snow" White Memorial Mixer for the Benefit of HERA Ovarian Cancer Foundation.

All Proceeds benefit HERA

Do you know about HERA?

HERA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit established in 2002 by rock climber turned healthcare advocate, Sean Patrick. HERA Ovarian Cancer Foundation's name is derived from the Greek Goddess Hera, who was the protector of women, and empowered them to stand up for themselves. HERA is also an acronym further explaining what we do and what we stand for: Health, Empowerment, Research, and Awareness. The mission of HERA is to eliminate ovarian cancer. Currently no effective test exists to reliably diagnose the disease early on, when the cahnce for survival is the greatest. Over the past decades, available treatment protocols have not appreciably altered mortality from this disease. Incidence rates have decreased only slightly, and much more work needs to be done. Because there are fewer numbers of healthy survivors to raise awareness for ovarian cancer, research has been grossly under-funded. Progress has stalled due to lack of adequate research dollars. HERA works to change this by awarding medical research grants, providing public education, and staying active on the national advocacy front. The priority is to better understand the disease so that a test for early detection and effective treatments can be developed.

Non-profit | HERA Ovarian Cancer Foundation HERA ovarian cancer foundation’s mission is to support medical research, educate the public, and empower women in order to eliminate ovarian cancer. Help us eliminate ovarian cancer: donate, volunteer, climb4life, and more!
