Please help setup and takedown equipment!
We always setup and take down our own nets, and equipment. Please help setup and take down. If you don't know how to setup or takedown, just ask. There are certainly lots of people who can help explain how the net setup works.
We also need to takedown as soon as possible so we can play as long as possible. Taking down the nets and existing the facility as close to 9pm as possible helps us keep playing longer.

Here is the posted Open Volleyball rules for North Boulder Community Center.
Our normal play is a bit different than the rules.
1. While the rules only allow for a maximum of 18 players per court, we OFTEN have over 48 player total.
2. We rarely run games to 11 points
3. We always switch to 21 point games when there are more than 2 teams waiting (which is almost always the case at North).
4. We almost always play 2 games win or lose before the team is off the court.
When we have as many as 26 people waiting to play, the play/wait ratio becomes more like a person can play 2 games, then has to wait for the 5th game (26/6 is 4.3 - so the people waiting mean there are more than 4 teams ahead of you waiting). This means you need to keep track of the number of games completed and wait patiently for your turn to play.
The most problems we have as a group tend to be around these busy times - please do not jump ahead in the line, and try to jump onto the court until you have waited.
If you arrive late after play has already started, you will need to look at the number of players waiting to play, and calculate how many games you should sit out so that you can begin playing after those waiting ahead of you have played. Arriving late is not an opportunity to jump ahead of the line.
PLEASE READ!

Play is fairly high level for rec level volleyball, and the courts are often VERY busy. We consistently have 50 people playing on two courts. This means play can be 2 games played, and 4 games spent waiting.
Please accurately judge your level before joining in. If you arrive at North Boulder Rec center, we almost exclusively run a 6-2 rotation. Please do not attempt to join a team if you are not used to playing in a 6-2 rotation since it is dangerous as injuries have been caused by collisions with new players who don't understand the rotation.
East Boulder Community Center has Friday (6-9pm) where the level of play is generally lower and the pace is almost always more relaxed. This is the best place to learn the 6-2 rotation and to practice in an environment that is less intense.
